The scarlet sunset made my heart melt. The trees were a perfect shade of emerald green. The sun peaking off the needles of the branches made the perfect glow. It looked like a perfect picture. This was my safe place. When I was on top of the mountains outside the castle, I felt serene. I could only come out here at the height of dawn. When I was out here, I wasn't a princess. I didn't need to set an example for the village. I didn't need to wear a tight corset or a crown that made my head weak. I didn't need to "Stand up straight" or "Lift my head". I was just, me. My stallion, Penelope, was drinking water by the lake. When I was little, I always used to go here with my father and my mother and swing on a rope into the crystal pristine aqua lake. Penelope was the perfect shade of a golden sunset. I was reading the book, Pride and Prejudice. I was a beautiful romance novel. All my fears where gone. It was a quarter of seven and I had to head back to the castle. My father would go mad if I wasn't in my room when the maid brings me breakfast.

I mark my book, get up, and go over to Penelope. I stroke her muzzle, feed her a carrot, and hop on her back. It's nearly light out and i'm racing back in time for breakfast. While riding back to the castle I suddenly hear a noise. I don't think much of it until Penelope kicked me off her back and starts running in the opposite direction. I start to chase her, but she is too fast. All of a sudden I hear a growl. I turn around and see two gleaming mean eyes looking back at me. I don't know what to make of it but I start running because I know that if I stay, it won't turn out good for me. I ran so fast feeling the wind in my silky hair. It felt so nice to run. Unaware of where I was going, I bump into somebody. I fall down. "Owe" I put my hand on my forehead to see if there're any scars. "Oh my, pardon me, I am so sorry, are you alright?" I look up and see this boy talking to me. He has brown hair, brown eyes, and the cutest little smile in the world. Apparently I was staring at him for a little too long. "oh man I think you have a concussion, can you see me?" He looks down at me and tries to pull me back up. "you're pretty..." I say not realizing that this is actually going on.  He picks me up I'm done and throws me over his shoulders. I blackout.

After a while I realize that I am thrown over some stranger's body. I had no idea what was going on. I start to scream. "Where am I? Who are you? Where is my stallion?" "Oh good you're awake." The strange boy throws me back over his shoulder and onto the ground. "are you feeling any better?" "yes thank you but, you never answered my question. What is going on, where is Penelope?" I started to wonder off calling out her name. "Who is Penelope?" "She is my stallion." "I will help you look for her." I stop, turn around, and walk right up to his face. "I don't know you. I've never seen you in my life. And you expect me to trust a stranger I just met help me find my stallion?!!" "Yeah." I step away from him. "My father told me to never talk to strangers." I turn around." "And how's that working out for you? Besides, I was one who found you wandering in the woods alone. And wasn't it me who picked you up and tryed to find your home for you?" I turn around and face him again, "Gosh, You are so conceited." The boy just looks at me. I turn around and walk away.

It is almost seven and I still haven't found Penelope. I was starting to get worried. I started to call her name. As I yell, I see a glistening at the edge of my eye. I stop. It felt like the light wanted my to follow it. As I turned the corner I find a beautiful garden full of Iris' and Lily's. Humming birds humming and Doves bathing themselves. It was so peaceful. I thought about the boy. Maybe I was too hard on him. He did save me. I turn my head and find Penelope drinking some water. I run to her and hop on her back. I lead her down the trail leading back to the castle taking no stops to rest. At five minutes till, I get to the castle grounds, put Penelope to the stable, and run to the castle wall.

As I climb the wall, I hear a voice. "Rose!" I stumble down the wall, alarmed at how loud this sound was. I could recognize that voice from a thousand miles away. "Grace! What are you doing here? It's seven in the morning!" She looks at me with a grin on her face. "I think the question is, what are you doing outside of the palace at seven in the morning with no guards and wearing your riding garment... You were at "the place""! I don't answer. "You were! You know you aren't allowed to be there. Ever since your mother died your father doesn't let you go back there!" I start walking towards the stable entrance while Grace kept knudging me saying I did everything wrong. When we got to the wall, I finally had enough. "Stop! I get it! I know I shouldn't of gone out but it's the only place I feel safe right now. And two, my dad is setting up this engagement for me with someone I don't even know. I mean why can't I just choose the person I marry. It's not fair." Grace wraps her arms around me. "it's going to be okay. I'm here by your side. But only if I'm your bridesmaid." I laugh and hug her back, "always."

When I open the door I see my father standing there with his arms crossed. "Where have you been!" I look at the clock and see seven thirty. "Oh no." I whisper. "Where have you been!" He yells this time. "I was just in the stable taking Penelope for ride." My father looks down at me." Listen, I know you love that horse so much but, you're not allowed out of this castle before waking hours."" Yes father I understand."

Today was going to be the worst day ever. I was to meet Prince Philip. I have never met him before this day and I was not looking forward to meeting him. I just wished that woman had the right to marry whomever they choose. In my room, I take off my riding suit, boots, and hat. I place my feet on the cold hardwood floor. It felt so nice. As I open my window I see a carriage pull up into our gate. I went strait the closet to change into my garment and silky green dress. I put my hair up with my favorite flower clip and put on my firefly necklace my mother gave me. It was the last thing she gave to me before she died. If only she was here.

I raced down the stairs only to remember that I wasn't alone. As I go down the stars I get introduced. "Now, introducing milady Princess Rose." I put on my biggest smile. The prince's back is turned to me, but for some reason I felt like I knew him. "Darling." My father comes up from behind me. "May I introduce, Prince Phillip." Phillip turns around and all of a sudden my smile turns into a frown. It was the boy. "You!" We both say...
