I knew I liked you from the moment I met you. You were tall, funny, tomboyish and not afraid of anything. You always kept me on the right path. Of course I started to fall in love with you when I realized that my admiration for you was more than that. I started to romanticize everything about us. However, I couldn't tell anyone, not even you, my best friend at the time.
We were born from similar families, however, your family seems to deal better with new things. As you know, I grew up in a traditional Catholic household. My parents would never ever be ok with the fact that I am bisexual. I just love people. But at the time, I always thought that I was gross and sick in the head because that's what my parents told me that the LGBTQ community was. They were gross.... and sick.... they needed treatment for loving who they wanted to....
I know you already knew that my family is homophobic, but it still didn't stop me from loving you. I still loved you but I could only show my love as a friend. That's fine but at the time, I wanted to do more than just love you as a friend, I wanted to love you as my girlfriend. Nothing sexual or anything, just cute, innocent 3rd grade love.
I know that you're in college somewhere now and that you probably don't think of me much, but if you ever read this, I hope you know how thankful I am for you. That last sleepover we had was amazing. We were just ourselves and you even wanted me to sleep in your bed with you. You never cared that people made fun of me, you were just my friend when I needed you. You were always there for me and I always looked up to you. You were my role model and best friend and I wish the best for you even though we haven't talked in years. I hope that the parts of you that I fell in love with hasn't changed.
