The draperies opened up abruptly pushing in even more sunshine. There in the window-seat sat my mother. She was so beautiful, I was so happy to see her. I was confused as to how she was here, probably due to the fact that she died in 1525, April 17th, my eighteenth birthday, exactly four hundred and ninety two years ago. My mother had died because of my sister and I ... because ... because of our lack of self- control. Not just her, so many other people too, so many friends nearly all of my family. Catherine, my twin sister keeps trying to say that it wasn't our fault, because we hadn't known then, we were still new, we couldn't control our bloodlust, but still- "What is on your mind my dear" my mother says soothingly.

I don't respond for a minute

"Just thinking about some things that happened." I say
"Well, do not think about them too deeply, the ball is tonight, and your birthday celebration is only next week. You only turn 18 once." she replies " You know all too well the importance of  you finding a man with a successful kingdom. We need to start the preparations immediately."

"Yes, but mother I do not want to be wed  to any man that I do not love. I want to marry for love, not money" I say dreamily" looking up at the ceiling with its intricate carvings. Images depicting the sun, moon and human life, as well as to mythical creatures popularly believed in in this kingdom. The kingdom of Araven. The people were so superstitious, if I had known then, what I know now, so many things could have been avoided, so much death, prevented-  "Aaahhh!" An ear- piercing scream distracts me from my thoughts as my mother falls to the floor suddenly bleeding her life out. The sources of the blood were two small puncture marks in the side of her neck. The memories flood my mind. My tears start to fall rapidly as the light leaves my mother's eyes. Her blood staining my long brown hair. My hands covered in thick and sticky blood, I start to scream. I scream and scream and scream.

I gasped loudly as I sat up abruptly from the hotel bed, my breath as ragged as a jagged sword. My heart beat faster and faster as I began to hyperventilate. I did this for a minute or so, and then I calmed down. The dream was a different thing totally, I had been on the run for so long I barely had time to think about the past. I rushed quickly to have a shower. As the hot water ran down my face, washing away all the traces of bad memories, I thought about my sister, if my current situation could have been avoided. If I hadn't done what I did in the 20's, this wouldn't have happened. I wouldn't be on the run from my sister.

I came out of the shower, my hair wet and dripping, I wrapped a towel around my head and started to get dressed, pulling on a grey t-shirt, a denim jacket, black leggings, and some floral print vans shoes. After quickly braiding my hair, I grabbed the small dark brown bag that contains my few clothes, and with lightning speed got out of my room, locking the door behind me. I waited for the elevator to come up and while I was waiting, I brought out my phone, I checked it for any messages, seeing none, I put the phone back in my jacket pocket. "Ding!" The elevator sounded as the door opened. I stepped in and pressed the G button, for ground floor. I checked out of the hotel, and walked quickly out of the it, my car, was near the hotel, only a few blocks away, still where I parked it the night before. I began walking.

I had the strangest feeling that I was being watched, so I quickened my pace a bit. Speeding into a slow jog I didn't stop until I reached the parking lot where I parked my car the day before. I unlocked the door, then turned around to see my twin sister Catherine standing right behind me.

"It's been a while" she said, "I thought that you would be dead for sure by now."
"Well, I'm standing right here aren't I?" I said snappily. Why couldn't my sister just leave me alone?, I know that I messed up badly in the past, but I had apologised so many times for what I had done. It was  a spur of the moment thing, I hadn't intentionally done it to hurt her, contrary to what she and her followers believed.
"Unfortunately, yes" she replied " but that will change very, very soon. Not today, but soon, I'm working on something and it will make sure that you and your kind will never, ever kill anyone ever again."
I was confused as to what she was saying, she and I both knew that there was no such thing as a collective way to kill vampires. Each and every single one is different, we all have different powers, some people have only one power, while some have several like my sister and I so therefore you have to find different ways to kill different types, for example, vampires that control fire cannot be killed by fire.
"What do you mean your kind ," I said "have you forgotten so quickly that you too are a-"
"Don't say it, do not say it or I will kill you right here on the spot." she said angrily
"Fine, deny your nature then, if you are not like me, then you can't catch me." I said, immediately after that, I sprinted round her at twice the speed of a supersonic jet so that I was behind her, then I kicked her in the back of the leg hard, channelling all of my super strength into the kick so that I heard a loud "CRACK!" Which signified I had achieved my goal and had broken her leg. "Aaaaahhh!" She screamed loudly, as she fell to the floor.

I laughed at her and then, as quickly alas I could, I used my ice power to freeze her so that she was just a statue of ice, thin ice, I knew I didn't have much time until her followers came to kill me, or until my ice shattered. It never lasted long on her if she didn't want it to, neither did most of my other powers, it still worked on other vampires though, so I ran, hearing the thin sheet of ice she was covered in shatter loudly as I left the parking lot far, far behind me, as well as my sister.
