I approached the seemingly dreary scene, brushing my caramel brown hair out of my eyes as snow fluttered down from the grey sky. Her monument stood out from the others. Taking a seat in front of it, I sighed and placed my head in the palm of my hand. "Hey mom" I mumbled softly, looking at the ground.
Soft snowflakes landed in the ground around me, and I watched as the wind carried a few leaves, dancing carelessly in the air.
"Dad walked out a few weeks ago.. so it's just me and the kitten now" my voiced cracked, stinging slightly from the tears I held back. "I really miss you..."
The wind seemed to stop, making an eerie silence rise. "It's not the same... you know? But I got a job! And I'm gonna start paying the rent at least. The landlord is taking a few dollars off since I'm the only one there.. " I tried to brighten the mood, taking a small rabbit statue out of my pocket. "This is for you, I bought it with my first pay check"
I placed it down by her name, and sat a little more comfortably. "I think life's starting to turn around, even though it seems shitty right now"

The snow came to a stop,  and a small beam of sunlight shown down on me. I instantly felt warmer, and safer. "I love you mom"
With that I stood up, and walked to my car, looking back at the graveyard and seeing someone standing there.
I love you
