Prologue

In third grade my classed learned, that no place is in isolation. That’s funny. I live in isolation. With my father and brother...

It was right before 10th grade, my brother was going into 7th grade. A tsunami was going to hit any day now. Everyone was moving and leaving the part of Germany that was going to be washed away. Our family was in the middle of moving when all the TVs flashed on. “Hurry people! Approaching in ten minutes! RUN!” I remember the news man blurting out. My parents, brother, and I grabbed the last of our stuff and drove on the Autobahn. Everyone was going at least 100 mph. car crashes happened, it felt like one happened every time I blinked. Then, it started to drizzle. Ten second later, it was pouring so hard we couldn’t see. All of us cried and cried. Seconds later, the car was whirling in a sea of death. It felt like I had died.

When we all arose, tons of people were gathered listening to a tall man with mauled up clothes and scars on him face. We walked over to the crowd. “Citizens, please calm down. We broke off of Germany.” Everyone started to cry. “There is no way in and no way out. We have to come together and rebuild civilization.” The man started to cry himself. I was right I was dead, this couldn’t be happening. Well it was.

While rebuilding the torn up town, a group of men accidently knocked heavy rocks off a cliff. The rocks killed 12 people, including the mayor and his daughter. Everyone hated these men. These men hated the world, so they decided to take over the town. They kill anything in their path, including humans. I never went outside. Only until my mother died. She had a heart attack as she saw her best friend being shot, by the men.

Chapter 1

Misty woods

My brother, Xavier, walked into my room with a sour face. “What’s the matter X?” I asked him. I call him X, he likes it much better.

“Father want to teach me how to hunt.”

“Well, I could show you.” I suggested. I tossed my bow to him. X threw it on my bed. I turned around and stared out the window. We heard my father’s footsteps coming up the stairs. X ran to his room and slammed the old wooden door.

“Elisa, it’s a beautiful day out. You should go take a walk or go hunting.”

“I could, nobody has spotted the men in the past six hours.”

“Great, just stay in town.” I changed into my scarf, leggings, and my old sweater. I grabbed my bow and a few arrows, just in case. I kissed my dad on the cheek, then grabbed an apple. I closed the door tight behind me.

It was foggy and damp outside, but the sun was shining bright. I walked up the old fountain that stands in front of the trade center. Our town built this one of a kind place called, the trade center. When we first built this town workers traded materials to build what they wanted. The town protested that everyone should be able to trade goods. So, every Saturday morning, people come with their items.

The fountain was my peaceful place. The sound of the water running was lovely. I closed my eyes and listened. I could hear people talking softly, the water flowing, and the wind whirling. Suddenly I was quiet, I couldn’t hear people talking softly or the water flowing. I could only hear the wind whirling. I opened my eyes. My life flashed before me. I ran into the woods hoping no one saw me. The men. I saw them. As I looked at them I saw a young man being shot with a needle like arrow. I was breathing deep now. I looked up at the trees. Soon, I started to climb. I heard people talking. I was them. “Hope no little girls and boys are hiding in here!” I heard the tallest one scream. I couldn’t breathe. I was terrified. My mind stopped. They pasted by the tree I was in. They walked away slowly. I watched them walk away. I watched them until the drifted away in the misty fog.
