In Brooke’s POV
They say that high school is the best part of your life. I totally agree to that. I had to! Probably because mine was perfect. I had the best friends, the most perfect boyfriend and a rocking great batch. I couldn’t ask for more.
All throughout the four years I spent in our school, I had great experiences. And sad to say, my high school life is about to end.
We only had few more weeks left. I feel devastated whenever I think of the future. Getting into a good university, finding a job, becoming independent and standing on my own two feet seemed to be too much. I like how I am now. I enjoy being immature most of the time, doing crazy things with my friends and spending time with my boyfriend. That’s all that matters to me. I hate thinking about the responsibilities of being an adult. Sure, you can say that I’m a spoiled brat and that I only care about myself. It’s okay. It’s technically true anyway. Because as far as I’m concerned, as long as I have my fun, I couldn’t care less about anything else.

We were at the classroom not doing much when I approached my boyfriend, Austin.
“Uhm.. hey, I was wondering if we could go out after class. You know, just hang out.” I asked.
“Oh, uh.. sorry babe. I have something to do later. Maybe next time?” he replied.
My face sank. I was really hoping to spend more time with him. I felt disappointed but I didn’t want to let him know.
“Oh, it’s cool. I’ll ask Tiffany instead.” I said, smiling as I regained composure.
I went to where Tiffany was seated and found her chatting with our friends.
“Hey besties! So, I was thinking if we can go have fun after class. It’s just so boring at home and you know, let’s chill!” I said, giddy and all. I haven’t spent much time with my friends lately considering the fact that we were all busy with school works and stuff.
“Wow, it’s a shock that you didn’t ask your boyfriend to go with you. Are you sick or something?” My friend Alice asked with a rather suspicious look on her face.
I just laughed at her comment knowing that she’s just kidding. “Haha.. No, I’m feeling perfectly fine. Actually, I did ask him but he had something to do.” I answered.
“So, that means we’re just second priority? Ouch! Harsh much?” Summer complained, pouting.
“Oh c’mon. you know you love me guys…” I teased. They’d always fakely get upset or angry with me. I’d just laugh at it considering the fact that I’ve been friends with them for four years now so I’m pretty much used to it.
They rolled their eyes but agreed anyway. See? They can never resist me.
“Uhm.. sorry, I can’t go with you guys. I have.. an errand to do. I’m really sorry, I have to go guys. Maybe next time. Bye!” Tiffany, my bestfriend, said acting all weird and stuff. She left immediately.
“Well that was weird.” Alice commented. “What’s with her?”
I shrugged as a response. “Dunno. Must be, world awkward day. You know what? Austin was also acting really weird earlier. He doesn’t usually have second thoughts if I ask him if we could go out but he unbelievably rejected my offer just a while ago,”
“Well, yeah. That doesn’t really sound like him at all.” Tammy said. “Oh! He must be planning something! Like a surprise!”
My eyes sparkled at the thought of it.
“Oh my gosh! You have the best boyfriend ever! You’re so lucky, Brooke!” Summer added.
I smiled thinking that I really am quite lucky with him. “I know.”

“Mine!”
Tammy spiked the volleyball. Another one point for our team.
“No fair! You guys have Tammy in your group. Darn! I wish Tiffany was here. Then we’d be playing fair.” Summer complained.
“Whatever! You’re just saying that cause you’re losing!” I replied. Which was technically true. She just stuck out her tongue as I smirked at her.
A few more minutes of volleyball tossing and spikes and we heard Alice complain about the time. “Hey guys. Don’t you think it’s getting kind of late? I think I need to go home now. Mom’s probably going to kill me if I get home real late when she knows that classes ended at 3.”
We looked around. True, it was getting kinda dark already. It was probably six.
“Yeah, you’re right. We probably should go home now. We’ll win the game anyway.” Tammy snickered in a playful kind of way.
“Whatever. Lets just get our bags.” Alice replied smiling although they lost.
“Shoot!” speaking of bags. “Guys, wait here. I left my bag at our classroom! I’ll just get it.” I headed back to our room. Great. Now I have to go back to our room which is at the third floor, by the way. Great. Just great! Did I forget to mention that it was getting dark and the hall is creepy cause I’m the only one there? Jeepers…
“There you are.” I sighed, relieved when I finally found it. ”Now, let’s go home!” I’m starting to get spooked out of this creepy place that is the hallway.
As I was passing by the music room, I started to hear faint strums on the guitar and a familiar voice singing. Slowly, I peeked in, scared and all that it might be a ghost or something but it was WORSE.
“I know I don’t get to say this often because I find it cheesy and I always thought that actions speak louder than words, but I just want to say… I love you. Very much. I don’t know how it happened. I just woke up one day, finding out that I couldn’t get you out of my head already. I’m so happy to have you and that I get to show you how I really feel.”
I felt a huge, painful pang in my chest. I’m usually thrilled to witness confessions. But NOT when it’s my BOYFRIEND confessing to my BESTFRIEND. Ouch.
