My virtues in which you deem vices.

 I’m crashing endlessly,

against these bitter cave walls.

I’m spluttering tirelessly,

trying to fight it all.

I’m only one person,

with one heart,

one will to change.

I’m bound by my invisible chains,

held at an inevitable range.

And I need you now,

more than I’ve ever needed anything before.

But you refuse to listen,

instead, you watched as my heart tore.

Piece by piece and inch by inch,

wanting to fly free,

but trapped like a caged bird—a finch.

You say it’s up to me,

to ignore the pain,

but if it was up to me

…do you know how this world would be?
