Beep, beep, beep. That's all I heard, for about 6 hours strait. This place smells really bad, I hate the doctor, and it smells like that. It is so cold here. It's not a very welcoming place. I'm sittin with Mrs. Leahy, but I'm staring out into space. Half awake, not sure if I am going to loose my best friend, or where on earth Austin is.
Beep Beep Beep. Over and over again. I hate that sound. It is the most obnoxious sound that I have ever heard. I sit on the chair, boredum slowly seeping in. I am so fidgity; first I lay across the chair, that gets uncomfortable, so I put my feet at the top and my head close to the floor. I'm having fun, I'm pretty sure that's the insanity, but It's fun.
After a while, the cops come in.
"Now dear, Please, tell me EXACTLY what happened."
I reply " Well, Austin was taking me to school, and we..um..walked past the field. We saw all you guys looking around. I was just looking to see what you guys were doing, I looked and then I saw a piece of paper on a rock. I go see what it is.. And there was a picture of a girl, in a corner. I showed my brother. "
At this point I can feel the tears coming.
"My brother, looks at it, his face looked scared. I looked closer then I figured out who the girl was, it was Madeline. I looked at the picture one time and when I w..went to go show Austin, he.. he.. wasn't there..And that's when...I saw...the..foot.."
The cop lady tried to comfort me, "I know this is hard for you dearie, try to remember, do you remember seeing anybody? Any unusual looking vehicles or any weird people?"
I sat there, still upside down, thinking, REALLY hard. "No, not that I can remember."
The cop lady, nodded, she gave me a card to call her with if I remembered anything. She smiled kindly then left.
A few days pass, Maddie's slowly getting better. She's still not up, but she's responding to the test the doctors give her.
"Mrs. Leahy..when is Maddie gunna wake up?"
"Sweetie, I'm not sure. The doctors said that she's responding to them, but she just wont wake up. The doctor said you should try to talk to her. "
"That's silly Mrs. Leahy! Why would I talk to her if she is sleeping! She can't talk back!"
"Honey, it's worth a shot. Tell her how much you miss her, tell her that you need her and want her to wake up?"
I nodded, then walked over to Madeline's bedside.
"Hey Madeline, I really miss talking to you. I'm really lonely, Emma's mom won't let me hang out with her cause she thinks that who ever I talk to will dissapear.I know it's not true, I mean I didn't make anyone dissapear. Oh, please Maddie, wake up, I beg you. Austin's missing. Please. You're my bestest friend ever. Please wake up.. please.." I sit by her bedside, crying, hoping that it would work. It didn't.
Anger rushes through me like a fire with gasoline, I burst, "YOU LIED TO ME!! YOU SAID IF I TALKED TO HER THAT SHE WOULD WAKE UP! YOU LIED! " I start punching Mrs. Leahy's stomach. I stopped, then broke down crying. Mrs.Leahy was holding me close.
Then out of the silence I hear a whisper, " Lily"
