Chapter 2

I pull up the drive way and gaze at the enormity of the house. I walked up the stairs of the deck and knocked on the door. The door swung open and an old, pale, skinny woman stood at the door. She had short, red, curly, hair and was wearing a long green dress with a white laced collar that covered her neck. "Hello, welcome! Please come in and have seat." I thanked her and proceeded through the hall and into the sitting area. The house had lots of doors and gates leading to other rooms and hallways which seemed very odd. Everything was very out dated and old. The house gave off a dark and gloomy feel that was uncomfortable and overwhelming. I look around the massive room. Huge framed paintings of animals and nature covered the walls.

"So do you live here alone?" I asked.

"Yes, my husband and kids died a long time ago in a ..umm ...accident." her voice was shaky and quiet.

"Ohh I'm very sorry to here that."

"Yes, well let's take a look at the house shall we?"

I nodded and followed her through the long dark hallway.

"We are defiantly gonna need to add more lighting in here it's a little dark. Do you plan on selling this house?"

"No! I'm never leaving this place ever! ..and the lighting is fine."

"Alright then so what do want do with the house and what is your budget?"

"No budget. I just want it to look nice."

"Any specific themes or ideas?"

"Ahh here we are! This is your room." She said smiling as we entered the room.

"My room?"

"Ohh um yes the uh room you will remodel first." She walked in the room with me and sat on the bed as I looked at the room.

The room was covered in floral wallpaper and spider webs. It looked as though no one had even been in here in years. I looked in the closet and as I predicted it was empty. When I turned back around the woman was gone.

"Ma'am?" I said. She hadn't told me her name yet nor did she ask mine and for some reason I don't think she even cared. *clink!* I ran to the door and shook the knob but it was locked. I could hear the woman laughing through the door. I franticly start beating on the door and scream for help.

"Do you like puzzles Kaitlyn?" she said as though she was amused by my reaction.

"H-How do you know my name?"

"I believe I asked you a question! Do you like puzzles?!"

"Umm yeah I guess."

"Good! Let's play a little game shall we?!"

"No! Let me out! I'm calling the police!"

"Ha! Good luck with that! You won't be able too way out here."

She was right. My phone was useless out here.

"Okay here is how are little game works!"
