As he trudged through the chilling slush, he slowly began to wonder where he had ended up. Looking up, he didn't recognize any of the structures he saw. Qrow always did this. He would start walking, heading to no place at all, and end up somewhere unfamiliar. He did this so often that he thought that, maybe, he would up in place that he had seen before.

He gazed at the horizon. It was almost nightfall. Deciding it would be best to head home now, he turned back. When he got home, he tossed his scythe toward the corner. He sat down on his couch in his compact apartment. Qrow looked around the room. It was not too terribly dirty, but it was poorly lit. In the dim light, a small coffee table could be seen. Qrow laid back on his cheap couch. He stared at the ceiling as he slowly drifted to sleep.

When Qrow awoke, the sunlight was just peeking into the room. He got up and looking around his apartment. It certainly looked better in the dark. In the light, he could see the trash that he had pushed into the corner. He always hoped one day he would come back home and find all his rooms clean, but it never happened. He always procrastinated when it came to cleaning. He would tell himself that he would do it later. When that time came, he would, once again, put it off.

He walked out of the small apartment building with his compact scythe on his back. There was a light fog covering the ground. As he walked through the slush, he heard something unusual. Qrow turned around swiftly and saw a figure disappear into an alleyway. He looked around the street. It was vacant. He quietly entered the alleyway that he had watched the silhouette disappear into moments ago.

"Hello?" Qrow whispered. No reply.

"Reveal yourself." Just as he finished the sentence, a small girl carrying an umbrella appeared. She rather short. She had bi-colored hair, half pink and half brown, with streaks of white. Her eye color seemed to have similar coloring to her hair, one was a pale pink and the other brown.

"Who are you?" asked Qrow. The girl did not respond. She merely gave a slight smile and turn to walk further into the alleyway. Qrow went to grab her shoulder, but she shattered like glass as soon as he touched her.

Who was that girl? Where did she go? Qrow had no answers for these questions. He started to walk out of the alley when he heard a snarl from deeper in the alley. This was followed by the sound of something running at an inhuman speed. Qrow quickly dove out of the alley and looked back just in time to a medium sized Beowolf throw itself out of the alley. Beowolf, thought Qrow. It had to be a Beowolf.

Beowolves, a kind of Grimm, were of similar shape as the mythical lycans so many have heard about. The difference between the two was one wasn't real, and the other was trying to maul Qrow. He grabbed his folded-up scythe and willed it to full size. The blade came out as if it were spring-loaded. The once compact weapon extended to a full 6' scythe. In one quick motion, he vanquished the Grimm.

Doing such was normal for Qrow. It was his job as a Huntsman. However, he had not expected a Grimm to be this far in the city. They normally kept to the forest. It seemed they got braver every day. If he didn't do anything about it, they would start walking into public places and attacking people. As he was thinking about this, a large explosion occurred in the building across the street.

Qrow turned toward the sound. The building across the street was falling in toward Qrow. It had been on purpose. Whoever had planned this planned it well. Explosives had been strategically placed to take out the supports. The building hit the ground just as Qrow rolled, trying to get away from the massive structure that was just about to come down upon his head.

He had managed to escape to worst of the impact. Qrow tried to get up, but he couldn't. He suddenly felt very tired. As he drifted off, he saw someone approaching, but he couldn't do anything about it. He stayed awake long enough to hear a feminine voice say, "It seems you've lost."
