"I hate them!" I growl as I set my tray on the lunch table.
Reese lookes up sympathetically. "The first week is horrible, I know."
Lina turns her head to look at me. She claps her hands. "Oh, Aspen! I forgot! You got your braces today!" She grins. "Smile!"
I glare. "I'm not really in a smiley mood."
Skylar and Lina laugh. "You'll survive." Skylar pats my head.
I return my gaze to my lunch tray. "Not that the school food ever looks desirable, but once you can't have something it looks so much better."
"Nonsense." Reese stands up, walks over to me and sitting next to me. "You have to eat."
I frown, propping my head up on one elbow. "It hurts."
"It's pain, or starving to death." Abby mumbles.
Lina fakes a gasp. "It's alive!"
"Shut up." Abby shoves Lina playfully.
Skylar smirks and leans towards me. "Gaaaaaaay.", they whisper.
I laugh. "Stop shipping them, you creep." I whisper back.
Abby and Lina both turn their heads to me and Skylar in unison.
Skylar shrugs and returns to eating their lunch.
"Please eat something." Reese pleads.
I look at the pizza on my tray. More like "cardboard with burnt, crispy tomato sauce, and moldy cheese".
"I'm gonna go get a salad." I laugh nervously.
Reese smiles. "Fair enough."
Author's Note:
Sorry, this chapter is pretty short! The title kinda sucks also oops...Anyway this is my first book on this account! (I say on this account because I had another one but we don't speak of that account 😂) Also if I use the pronouns "their" it means the character doesn't identify as male or female. Not being grammatically incorrect. :) Okay that's about it! I hope you enjoyed this, and I hope you enjoy future chapters! (I'm still thinking of a book title...)
