Ash and God knows what else was flying up into the air as he ran.
No sounds except his pounding heart reach his ears.
His muscles were burning and his lungs and throat felt like all the smoke and fire that was surrounding him were making their home there.
Tears threatened to spill out of green eyes.
Burns covered his arms, sides, and back. Some were so bad they were bleeding, but then again, it could have just been blood from all the gashes and scrapes that covered his body.
The world suddenly felt. . . light, and he realized too late that there was a piece of rubble in front of him.
He smashed his face off the ground and rolled a few feet. He stayed down a moment before gathering his senses and getting up again.
He had to find them.
His memory was more than fuzzy, but he knew his friends were in the place where they were to meet up. They had to be.
This is going to be hard, even for those of you who have gone up against villains like these before. Avoid falling buildings, and try to save as many people as possible. Remember; you aren't full heroes. Don't be ashamed if you have to call for help. Good luck. Don't get killed. Meet up here if you get hurt or if you have any survivors.
A coughing fit ripped through his entire body and his knees gave out. He didn't stop until he nearly vomited, and he was left gasping for air, then stood back up. Running really was not a good idea but he was in a rush.
He didn't have time to help himself as he grabbed two children who were in the path of the building, flinging them as far as he could before it crashed down.
He currently had no idea where the two kids had ran off to. But he knew where he was headed.
As the heavy building hit, he braced himself. Nothing could have compared to the actual feeling, though. Those movies? Obviously fake. He was sure he was going to die. He managed to use One for All and get through the most of the rubble that was on top of him.
"Todoroki! Uraraka! Iida! Someone!" He called out hoarsely. He knew he wasn't going to last much longer in this state. Heck, he didn't even have his communication device anymore.
The next thing he knew, fire was hitting him and everything around him. That was the part that was somewhat hazy; where did it come from? Was it one of the villain's quirks? He remembers looking around – he just doesn't know what he saw. That was when he started running.
There was no response. However, he did attract some unwanted attention. A woman with a mask over her face descended on him faster than a hawk on its prey. He learned quite quickly that her quirk was one that allowed her to shoot barbs of some sort. All he could hope was that they weren't poison and that they wouldn't make him bleed out faster if he left them where they hit.
A pained scream could be heard if you were in the boy's area. Why? A barb hit him right in the middle of his thigh, another ripped through his side, and a third lodged itself in his shoulder.
He knew he wasn't going to win.
The tears he had been holding in for what felt like years had finally broke loose, streaming down his face, snot running within the first thirty seconds.
He was going to die at the hands of a villain, and he had no way to tell anyone.
"So this is a hero nowadays? Pathetic," The female villain hissed before kicking him hard in the side, making him roll a little ways away. "And here I was hoping to find someone who wasn't just a useless hero wannabe!"
She kicked him again, laughing cruelly. He coughed after that one and was horrified to see a little bit of blood.
Heh. He always knew he was pathetic and weak but this really proved it.
'Sorry, mom. Sorry, All Might. I tried. I really did. Sorry for letting you down.'
The boy struggled to keep his eyes open, praying for someone to find him. He noticed the lady walked off – something he was very thankful for.
He then heard something he was even more thankful for.
"Midoriya! Midoriy– oh my god, oh god, please don't be dead, Midoriya!"
The boy flashed a weak grin and the world went black.
The next thing he remembered was a blur of yelling and sirens.
The next clear thing he remembered was waking up in a hospital bed, feeling like he was going to puke, and wrapped in bandages. He also felt a hand wrapped around his own. His eyes widened as he realized that it was Shouto holding his hand.
A light blush covered his face within seconds as he tried to decide what to do, because oh god, Shouto was holding his hand.
He was just about to try to move it when the scarred boy sat up from where he was laying with his top half on the bed. The moment he realized the other was awake, he looked immensely relieved.
"Thank you for not dying out there."
Just seeing that he had obviously worried Shouto, he couldn't stop the tears from falling. He was pathetic. He didn't deserve to be a hero.
He received what he needed most at that moment – a hug. Not just some quick 'get it over' hug, but a gentle, 'it's all okay' hug.
The tears kept coming and coming, the dark haired boy not knowing how to stop them.
A few minutes pass before Inko rushed into the room. As soon as she saw her son awake and crying, she began to cry, going over and hugging him.
He knows he shouldn't be as reckless as he is.
He knows he shouldn't do things like this that lead to people worrying.
But as soon as Shouto tells him that two children came running, yelling for someone to help a 'bunny man who saved them' because he was crushed by a building, he didn't regret it.
However, he did regret everything the moment he walked into the dorms the first day he was allowed out of the hospital.
He walked into the common room with Shouto in front of him. He saw a tired looking Toshinori and an even more tired looking than usual Aizawa.
There were only a few students, considering the fact that they discharged him rather late in the day and the school was a good hour away from the hospital he was at.
The first thing he got when Shouto moved out of the way was a tight hug from Toshinori, which he let out a pained little squeak at, and a "well, at least you didn't die" from Aizawa.
Though he did get a long lecture from Toshinori right after the hug.
He didn't regret a thing.
