Audrey Strickland has always had some degree of control over Briarwood Community Theatre, since her first junior show at eight years old. (they did The Little Mermaid Jr, her mother claims, though Audrey herself can't remember.)
This year, she's sixteen (going on seventeen) and knows she'll get the part of Elphaba in their production of Wicked. It's a no-brainer, by now, anyway. most of the other girls gave up eventually, except that witch Quinn Thayer. She's already planned what she wants the cast list to be, and has started hinting at their director.
But what happens when her love interest is cast as some loser who not only isn't her boyfriend, but some loser who's never even listened to the Heathers: The Musical album?
Lloyd Pearson didn't want to take part in some idiotic musical. He'd rather stay in the shadows, where he's at comfort, and criticise people from there. He doesn't like acting, or singing - "it's for imbeciles" - and barely makes it through drama (how on earth did he end up taking it as an elective?) But when his drama teacher pulls him aside and informs him that he'll fail unless he does something for extra credit, he has no choice but to join the community production of Wicked, which his stupid drama teacher is directing.
But what happens when he gets cast as Fiyero - apparently, they didn't have enough boys audition - and not only is he forced into the spotlight, he has to act alongside a diva who insists he has to give up the role? (Sure, he doesn't want to be there, but he'll get his ass handed to him on a silver platter if he fails and his parents find out.)
