i ran down the hallway, my fingernails scratching against the walls, leaving a trace wherever i went. the hallway never seemed to end. it was chasing me. i never understood why. it just always did.
every night.
i always seemed to escape from its slim lurking body... except for tonight. i opened the door to the bathroom and slammed it behind me. i locked it. i was breathing heavily. i splashed water on my face and looked up.
it was in the mirror.
behind me.
i could feel it's cold presence. i couldn't move. it's red eyes kept me pegged to the ground. i whispered to myself,
why?
it's foggy hands wrapped around my mouth. i tried to scream.
nothing.
it forced me down onto the ground, suffocating me. i tried wriggling away, throwing my arms at the figure that was pinning me down. my punches seemed to phase through it. it's sharp finger ran down my face, down my torso, still adhering me to the wooden floor. it stopped at my abdomen. it twisted its arm and pulled outwards.
my soul
it was gone
it pulled out my soul
but how?
was i dead?
this can't be possible
why?
too many questions. i couldn't be dead. this had to be a dream.
i was floating now, looking down at my lifeless body. i looked in the mirror; just simple mist.
a scent filled the room.
fresh death
i screamed, "What have you done?!" i pointed at where the black smoky figure was.
it was gone.
this monster had ripped my soul from my now corpse, and left me.
i had been betrayed by someone i didn't even know.
this can't be happening
i had been betrayed...
betrayed by the unknown
