Prologue
I remember... it started to rain that day.
The town square was filled with dark colored umbrellas and people with long faces. It was a murky day after all and they had anticipated it to rain for sure.
Searching my satchel, I paused and remembered that I had forgotten to bring my umbrella despite hearing the weather forecast on the radio that morning.
"I can't believe you keep forgetting the small things ... what's wrong with you Charles?" I asked myself.
There was a concerned look on the passer-by who noticed that I was now soaking wet. I smiled back with a puzzled look and turned to face the other way. As I pulled out my hand from the satchel, a wallet sized picture fell off and I immediately reached for the picture before it touches the ground.
The picture with a group of friends was already spoiled but I can easily tell that it was me on the far right.
"Look at that... that's what you call a throwback!" Laughing at the way I looked before, a total nerd with glasses and messy hair. I then noticed that there was a guy beside me, his arm around my shoulder. I couldn't tell who he was because his face was smudged off but...
I suddenly felt a longing feeling. Who was this person to me?
Touching my chest, my heart was rising and I thought it was the raindrops flowing down my cheeks but tears.
I couldn't hear anything but my thudding heart and everything around me was in slow motion. I reached for the rain to feel the drops in my hand and closed my eyes.
A vague memory appeared of a passionate kiss under the rain. The breath of a man as he pressed his lips on mine. I felt loved and happy for a while... and then, extreme sadness.
There was a loud honking sound approaching, and voices warning me of the danger ahead. I opened my eyes and saw bright flashing lights...
then it was dark. Complete darkness.
