Nowhere to go.
Nowhere to go.
The young woman by the name of Emma Peterson skidded to a halt at the end of an alleyway, staring up at the grime coated brick wall. Her feet were burning and she could feel blisters forming on her heels.
She gasped for breath, frantically looking around for some kind of sign, something that would help her get away.
She was crazy, she had to be. The person...no, the thing following her was not human.
She reached into the pocket of her jacket and pulled out her cell phone. How convenient it was when she pressed the button and the red battery symbol popped up. Dead.
Like she would be within seconds.
She spun around, hoping to every god that she would have time to run back out of the alley. But a snarling filled the air, bouncing against the bricks. A horrible, rotting stench swirled into the air, and Emma gagged.
Standing at the end of the alley was the creature.
It was almost human shaped, but the fingers and legs were far too long. It had eight black eyes, opening and closing at separate times, and a wide mouth. The mouth spread open, showing shark like teeth, and a long black tongue lolled out.
It crouched down, going closer and closer to her.
Emma screamed and backed into s corner, shouting for help. She took her dead phone in her dust and hurled it at the demon. It hit its head, but then clattered to the ground.
It made a gurgling noise deep in its throat and continued to advance, completely unfazed.
"No, no, no," she whispered, beginning to hyperventilate, "please, not now...not now..."
The creature was face to face with her.
She could feel it's breath hot on her face, and it's tongue scraped down her cheek.
She was sobbing then, and she closed her eyes to await the pain.
But it didn't come.
She opened her eyes and her mouth fell in shock.
The creature was being tossed around in mid air. Levitating up at the speed of light, being thrown down. Cuts would appear from nowhere and leak with black ichod.
Truly, angels were watching out for her.

•••
"Ah!"
"Phil, oh my god!"
Two angels had been following the demon for hours, and they had finally reached it.
The first angel was made of soft green light, it's wide white wings wrapped in green vines and tiny white flowers. It was currently being pinned against the brick wall by the creature.
The second angel was soft gray, the only recognize able feature on its face eyes. Solid purple and glowing. It's wings were white as well, but with a slightly smaller wingspan.
"Dan," the first angel squeaked, reaching out to his side where his weapon had fallen from his back, "help!"
Dan groaned and swooped down from where he hovered in the air. He transferred his weapon, a long black blade ridden with amethysts, to his left hand and used his right to grab the demon by the neck.
He shot upwards with the demon screeching in his grasp and then threw it onto the ground with all his might.
Phil, the first and eldest of the two angels, got up and flitted to where Dan was. He retrieved his weapon, a slim axe with an oiled, wooden handle.
"I'm taking a break," Dan said, "handle it."
Phil responded with a determined "hmph," and flew back down to the demon.
It snarled at him, and Phil shook his head.
"It's a shame, to the people down there you're just a lost puppy. I love puppies..."
"Phil, quit talking to it! It doesn't give a crap about what you're telling it!"
"Okay!" Phil turned his bright white gaze back to the demon. "Sorry little guy." With one swift stroke of his axe, he had made a slash across the demon's stomach.
Again he sliced, completely cutting off its right arm. Again, and the jaw hung loose. Again, and it was squirming on the ground.
"Alright, alright Philly!" Dan shouted, flying down and landing beside the older Angel. "Don't toy with it, let me finish it."
Dan twirled his blade in his hand and with one swoosh, it's head was rolling down the alleyway to Emma's feet.
The mortal girl screamed and Phil, as fast as he could, flew out from the alley way an behind the brick wall.
Emma got to her feet and ran out past Dan, who was invisible to her.
Instantly, she bumped into a man. He couldn't have been older that thirty, though his curious blue eyes were those of a child.
"Are you okay? I'm so sorry!" He said.
"No, no!" She exclaimed.
"Sh, it's alright!" He stepped back, holding out his hands in a kind way to give her space. His English accent was prominent and soothing. "What is the matter?"
"There's, there's," she grabbed the young man by the wrist and pulled him into the alley, "there's a--"
But the body of the demon was gone.
"I'm so sorry, but there's nothing there."
Emma blinked, sagging against him and wrapping her arms around him with wide eyes and a quivering lip.
"But, but, it was...it was there!"
The young man squinted in confusion, but gently patted Emma's head.
"How's about we go get some coffee? I'm meeting my friend at the shop right around the corner."
Emma looked up at him and swallowed, still shaking. She nodded slowly.
"Good," he said with sympathetic eyes, "come along then."
The young man left the alleyway, Emma clinging to his arm tightly, and they walked down the pavement to a small coffee shop. They walked inside and the bell from the door rang.
"Phil!"
A young man, taller than the first but younger looking, stood from a small booth. He had brown hair, and eyes that matched. He was dressed in all black, save the purple laces on his shoes.
"Hello Dan!" Phil said.
Where did you leave it? Or did you already burn it? Phil's voice echoed in the other angel's mind.
Already burned it, Dan replied as he smiled and introduced himself to Emma. Wanted to save you the hassle.
Awe, you care about me!
Stop acting like that's some amazing thing, you dingus. I've known you since the dawn of time, of course I care.
"Now," Dan said softly as the three of them sat in a booth, "you look a bit shaken up." He reached across the table to his mug of coffee and took a sip, shrugging his shoulders.
"Tell us everything."
