Ahh, summer break! A time for happiness, fun, and lots of cooling down from the heat! It's all fun and games for others, but when you're me? Not at all.
Want to know how this wreck happened? Well, it started when my friends and I were walking down the street from school, last day before summer break. The highways in Long Island seemed busy that day, maybe because it was the afternoon. My friend tugged at my light blue jacket. "Want to race me across the street? We have to cross anyways." He said. I smiled and nodded. My other friend, Gabriella, rose her book into the air. She lowered it down, saying, "Go!"
Everything after that was in slow motion. We raced across the street, hoping we were the champions. I heard yelling from my friends, I couldn't hear what they were saying. My mind was fuzzy as I focused on tying my shoe, because nobody wants to trip. I stood up, but my legs were wobbly as they were suddenly hit by metal, I fell down onto the road, and was banged in the head with a license plate. Then..everything went black..

When I woke up, I looked around. A hospital room? I asked myself. But why was I there? The door opened as Gabriella smiled. She raced over to me and hugged me. "How long was I out for?" I said. Gabriella shrugged. "A few days." She said. I gasped. "A few days? Oh, my mom must be worried sick!" I exclaimed. "Is she here?" I asked. Gabriella took out her phone and dialed my mom. "I'll call her." She put the phone to her ear and heard a sweet voice. "Hello? This is Ariana Rosannes." She said. Gabriella smiled. "Hi, this is Gabriella, I'm at the hospital, and Bella is awake." She said.
It only seemed like seconds before my mom was hugging me. "I'm fine, mom!" I said. She wiped her eye. "Honey, I do think know what I would've done without you!" She said. I laughed. "Yeah, sorry for worrying you." I said. I looked out the window. Something must've been going on. "The nurse told me downstairs you can leave right now, you seem fine." She said, picking me up. She was pretty strong. I guess I wasn't that heavy for a thirteen year old. My mom carried me out of the hospital, and that night we all went out for ice cream and bowling for celebrating. I guess we were celebrating because I wasn't dead. Good parenting, right?
When I was in bed, reading my book about Greek mythology, my mom came in with a thin box. "Hi, honey, how are you feeling?" My mom asked. I shrugged. "Fine. What's that?" I asked, pointing to the box. "Bella, there's..something I have to confess." She said. I nodded as she opened the box. She handed me an old photograph. "Is this you and uncle Terry?" I asked. The man in the picture didn't look like my uncle at all. He was muscular and bearded, with slick black hair and a red sweater. He wore blue jeans and black boots. He had an arrow and bow in a sack and was kissing my mother. "No, honey. That was your father." She laughed. "Is dad dead?" I asked. My mom shook her head. "Actually, your father is Eros."
My eyes widened. "Eros!? No, are you joking?" I asked. My mom's eyes looked serious. "No. You are a demigod, and you're not safe here. There's Greek monsters out there, and they want to hurt you. That's why tomorrow, you're moving somewhere safe, where all demigods go." She said. I rubbed my head. "R-Really? Where?" I asked, believing every word. My mom smiled, because she knew it was safe for me. "Camp Half Blood, Bella. Now, enough talk, and good night."
