Rain.
It's the one of the simplest things that make the biggest impact.
Especially when you feel like you're becoming the rain.
You know, when you feel like you're constantly falling heavily and hitting what seems to be rock bottom.
But it could also be the feeling of falling gracefully and landing upon soft grass.
Personally, I like to feel the rain rather than to become the rain.
I like it when the rain trickles down my shoulders and face. When it clumps together in your eyebrows.
When you're crying and the rain makes you feel safe.
But rain can also be scary.
Booming thunder and popping lightning that sends shivers all throughout your body.
It's cold just like your ex's heart.
I remember my ex. We used to stand outside in the middle of the night while the rain poured over us. Kissing in the rain, how cliché. His little dog skipping through the puddles as they rippled with every raindrop and footstep hitting them.
Walking over wet stone pavements and splashing in puddles.
Those were the days.
Until he promised a promise no one could keep.
I remember his words vividly; like they had happened just an hour ago.
"I will protect you. I will love you until the day I die. I promise."
Later that day I felt sour and dirty. "No one can keep that promise," I thought to myself.
And I was right.
No one could keep that promise.
