My feet scuffed against the wall behind me, as I pushed myself farther into the darkness, under the verandah.

I was making too much noise, he would find me soon.

"Little star, you need to come out now" he was getting closer. " please?"

I curled into myself as his approaching footsteps grew louder.....and louder.

"I can hear you breathing, star." He chuckled, making me smile, as I begin to hold my breath.

Turning my head, I was startled to see a woman lying next to me.

She was beautiful, not a spec of dirt seemed dare touch her porcelain skin, her hair seemed to float just above the dirt and still look like the most beautifully spun, golden silk.
Her eyes, while large and cat-like, looked like trust filled Windows that had been carefully covered. As if to protect what lies inside.

She too held her breath and smiled.

That was when I noticed the light she was casting, lighting up the bugs around us.

My head started to spin and the woman looked concerned before releasing her breath and motioning for me to do the same.

"Who are you?" I chirped, still trying to keep quiet.

"Well, sweet star, I am--" the rest of what she was saying was cut off as I was grabbed and dragged out of my hiding spot.

Whoever if was that grabbed me, threw me and I heard a sickening crack as my head collided with a rock, jutting from the dirt.

As the would started to spin and dim, I saw daddy and the glowing lady, fighting big shadow.......things.

Finally the lights got switched off.
