CHAPTER THREE

ALIA

Alia pulled out a folded piece of paper that she had stored in the back pocket of her jeans. She needed to find the room where her marketing class was.

Room 107. Damn it.

That was the room where Mr.Connor taught. Alia rolled her eyes at the thought of having him as a prof again. He was very fond of Alia. Probably a bit too much than he should be. She shuddered at the memory of his perverted smile.

Tharki number one.

Alia pursed her lips into a line, refraining from smiling like an idiot in public. She saw many familiar faces as she walked the halls of the campus. Many of them waved and smiled at her and she would greet them back with a small smile while continuing to walk. She was determined not to have that many awkward conversations today.

I don't want people to do me a favor. I'm perfectly fine with my own company.

She reached into her bag to find her phone. Her class doesn't start until the next fifteen minutes so she could use some entertainment.

Where is the damn phone?

Alia was beginning to feel a bit frustrated while she continued to search for her phone. She took a seat at her spot in the middle of the class. After a moment, she then realized what she should've realized immediately.

Holy shit!

"I am so sorry." Alia got up immediately and faced the person of whose lap she sat on. She felt her cheeks and ears burn out of embarrassment as the boy raised his brows in amusement.

"Don't be." The brown eyed guy chuckled. "Besides, it's not that often a pretty girl like you sits on my lap" He flashed a smile that made Alia feel uncomfortable.

"Yeah, that was an accident. This used to be my spot when I last sat in this class and I didn't notice you sitting there." Alia started to rub the back of her neck in embarrassment. She tried not to look into his compelling coffee brown eyes.

Did I seriously need to embarrass myself in front of such a cute guy?

"You didn't notice me?" The attractive guy faked a dramatic gasp. "Haye! Tooht gaya mera dil!" Alia chuckled quietly as she watched him stab his chest with the pencil that was in his hand.

"I don't think you'll be heart broken for that long." Alia pursed her lips as she watched him raise his brows.

"You're also Indian?" he asked her with a surprised tone.

"Nahin. I'm Chinese." She rolled her eyes as he laughed at her response.

"Then me and you are going to be friends for sure. By the way, my name is Sameer." He forwarded his hand for Alia to shake it. She raised a brow and paused for a moment.

Should I really be doing this?

Alia wasn't ready to become friends with another desi boy. The last one she was friends with doesn't even make eye contact with her. She replayed the awkward moment from this morning in her head, making a shiver run up her spine. Alia snapped back into reality. Sameer's eyes widened a little.

But he's not Varun...so why should I isolate him?

With that, Alia's lips twitched into a small smile and she shook Sameer's hand.

"I'm Alia" she exhaled a short breath of air as she introduced herself.

"Alia..." Sameer repeated her name, extending the sound of the final letter. Alia took a moment to admire his facial features. His coffee brown eyes were hard to miss and his short, wavy locks that were excellenty styled was also the same color. He had minimal facial hair that suited his sharp jaw and his lips revealed a smile that was able to drive any girl crazy.

He's not that bad for a desi boy.

Sameer interrupted her intense observation when he mocked a small cough. Alia's cheeks heated up again when she realized that her hand was still in his. She immediately withdrew her hand as Sameer smirked. Alia gave him an awkward smile.

You need to stop acting so stupid in front of him!

She inhaled some air. Alia's eyes wandered around the class room to distract herself and to avoid another conversation with Sameer.

Just walk away coolly. Class will start in five minutes and you won't need to stare into those ridiculously beautiful eyes.

Hesitantly, Alia took a small glance at Sameer. He seemed to be distracted so she took this opportunity to walk off and find a new seat.

"Oye, madam!" Sameer's voice startled Alia. She turned to him with a confused face.

What did I do now?

"This is your seat, right? Then you should sit here"

"No.." Alia began to protest but by the way Sameer was gathering his stuff, she knew that he wouldn't listen. Alia pushed a lock of her wavy hair behind her ear as she headed back to her seat. She sat down awkwardly but a small smile formed from her lips. It was very gentlemanly of Sameer to do that. As if on cue, Sameer plopped himself in the seat next to Alia. She felt her heart stop for a moment.

"Like I said earlier, I know we will make good friends....Chashmesh." Sameer winked playfully.

Chashmesh? Ugh. The last thing I need is someone commenting on my glasses.

Alia rolled her eyes and absentmindedly adjusted her black framed glasses. She wasn't sure if she was that excited that Sameer was her neighbor in class. Alia took another hesitant glance at Sameer, only to meet those dangerously beautiful brown eyes again. She blinked, trying to be as normal as she could be.

God help me...It's gonna be hard concentrating in this class.
