As the woman cradled the baby girl in her arms, she made a promise, to her self, and the girl, she whispered
"I promise, I'll keep you safe, even though I won't be there, I'll keep you safe, I'll never let any harm come to you." She paused, and took a breath, "I promise," she finished as tears streamed down her face. She'd told the same promise to the girls' father, just hours before.

Before everything went wrong.

She kissed the girls forehead one last time, then handed her to her sister, who had promised to raise her as her own. The child let out one small cry as the woman gave her away. That one small cry ripped her heart in half, and completely shattered it when her sister took the baby.

As the girl was getting further and further from her view, she whispered one last goodbye, "I love you Velia, my sweet, hidden angel."

The woman sat at her desk, determined to be in the girls life, even without her knowing it. She started with a letter, which she would tell to her sister to give to Velia when the time is right. She grabbed a pen and wrote,

My darling Velia,
