I watched as the group of assassins surrounded me, I was low on mana so deceiving wasn't an option. I could hear their shouts of rage and anger.
"We will get payback for our friends!" one shouted.
"I'm going to beat that smile off your face bastard!" another roared.
All the while I laughed at their threats hearing the voice in my head once more.
"If you don't fight you'll die. I know you can feel it, the anger, the sadness, and the blood lust. It makes you want to kill doesn't it? Heheh Why so serious?" It's words echoing through my mind. It wanted to take control again, Shaco wanted to kill again. Well I shouldn't get ahead of myself, let me start from the beginning.
My name is Raven, and I'm currently 18 years old. I didn't have what most people call a good life, in fact my life was awful since day 1. My family was abusive, with alcoholic parents who made it their job to make my life miserable. They had me in a cage in a way, they only let me do things they liked. My friends, my social life, even what I wear. I wouldn't be surprised if they started telling me how to breathe. My life outside the cage wasn't any better, I've always been deceived by everyone. Everyone seemed to look at me like a monster, was it my snow white hair or maybe my deep red eyes? All things I had no control of, my upbringing made me grow emotionless, not caring about anything.
Then one day, I was able to purchase my own laptop without my parents knowing. I got the money from my part time job and by taking some money from my parents. I know it wasn't ok to do that, but I really wanted something fun in my life. I decided to get a game, the one I've been seeing the most was League of Legends. I downloaded it, and immediately fell in love with it. I played non stop, only stopping when I had to hide it from my parents. Eventually I found a love for the champ Shaco, because in a way I was getting payback. Even if it was metaphorical, I was finally the one to deceive others.
I remember the game I played right before it all happened. I had just hit level six in game and got my ultimate hallucinate. I proceeded to deceive over the wall into the dragon pit. I hit the infernal Drake with my critical strike buffed auto attack. It pushed me away with its mighty wings as it lifted itself off the ground. After regaining the ability to move I dropped a jack in the box behind the beast. We needed this objective for the bonus damage it would provide our team. The box had activated shooting the dragon, the beast turned targeting it. I pressed my ultimate, Shaco immediately stopped shaking his head making a clone of himself. They started wailing on the dragon as it finished off the box turning to shoot at the clone. The clone's health depleted it, and as it died it exploded into a ring of blades taking the dragon to under 500 hp. When it did I smiled using smite, as I pressed the button a beam of yellow lightning came down dealing lethal damage to the dragon. I watched it fall as I immediately turned my attention to bot lane.
"Ezreal- Ashe no flash or heal," I read as it appeared in chat. I marched down bot lane, Ashe overstepping with no summoners. I deceived blinking a little forward before standing behind invisible. In that moment, I felt like I became Shaco. The power in my hands as I was ready to strike with bonus damage from my passive back-stab. Then I struck, my critical strike dealing a total of 450, she only had 600 health. I felt the panic in her as she struggled to get away. That was my favorite part, she slowed me with a volley of ice arrows but it was too late. I threw my two poison shiv at her dealing a solid two hundred damage. She screamed as she dropped to the ground.
"Enemy has been slain," the announcer said.
"Ashe- Screw you Shaco, you are so much cancer," blew up the chat.
"Shaco- Why so serious?" I responded before using that kill to snowball the rest of the game. Every kill made me more and more deadly, 17/3/1 by the 25 minute mark. I hit level 18, I was 5 levels up of the enemy Rengar. The enemy got desperate, and forced a team fight. They picked off our Fiora and Ezreal who were caught out of position. Then they started Baron, if they got it they'd have a shot at a comeback. I waited watching the health bars lower of Baron and the enemy team, I made my clone walk into the enemy team. They immediately turned, and killed him instantly, they regretted that. The damage was just enough that Baron started picking them off.
First Rengar.
"Enemy has been slain!" The announcer said.
Then Nami.
"Ally double kill!" She continued.
Lastly Syndra.
"Ally triple kill!" She continued. The low health Gangplank walked towards the bush I was in, big mistake. I deceived behind ending his life with an auto attack critical strike.
"Quadra Kill!" The announcer continued. After that only Ashe remained, she ran fast, but not fast enough as my mobility boots activated. She ran to the edge of the Baron pit and flashed over the wall. Flash is used to blink forward a short distance. Right as I made it to the wall my deceive came off cool down, I blinked over the wall walking into the bush. In that bush she recalled, she was probably begging the gods to finish her recall. My invisibility ended and I hit her, she was alive with 10 hp. She turned her body paralyzed in fear before smiling. This was my Shacomania, the acceptance of death. I threw my dagger, 400 critical.
"Penta Kill, Ace!" The announcer said.
"Ashe- GG STUPID TEAM!" exploded Ashe. My character stopped moving as I came back to reality, the camera moving up to their red crystal, a Nexus. It shook violently before exploding and showing the victory screen. The end game screen showed as my level 29 turns to a level 30, I was finally max level.
"It took a long time but I did it," I said lifting my headphones off my head. I closed the end game screen feeling proud of myself. Then on the home screen I got a message.
"Would you like to be part of the team testing a new beta for League of Legends?," it said. I shrugged, I mean why not? It was just a beta. What could go wrong? The beta itself wasn't anything big, just a few nerfs and buffs, nothing for me to worry about.
I then started hearing screaming and arguments, my parents were home...
I closed my laptop quickly, I couldn't let them see it. I quickly put it in my work bag, since I couldn't get it in the usual spot. I prayed they wouldn't find it, as my dad marched in obviously drunk. His speech was slurred. I could barely understand him. After this I kinda blacked out, when I awoke I could feel a wet liquid on my head. I felt it seeing the red liquid on my hand.
"Blood," I said not surprised as I looked around at the broken glass pieces. He had hit me with the bottle and tore up my room in his drunken state. After thinking that my eyes widened looking around for my work bag. I did end up finding it and it was intact. I opened it looking at the laptop. To my relief the laptop was ok, I don't know what would happen if it broke. League of Legends was basically my lifeline at this point. I bandaged my head a bit before going back on the bed to rest, clutching my laptop to my chest. I don't know if it was seconds, minutes or hours but eventually I did pass out.
My dream was strange. I heard a voice in my head, it was so familiar but so distant at the same time.
"You hate them, don't you? Let yourself go, give in to that anger in you. If you won't let go, I will take you to somewhere you can. Away from all this, will you let me? Heheh don't be so worried. Why so serious?" the voice said.
I woke up slowly from my rest, my vision introduced to a field of green.
"This isn't my bed, where am I?," sitting up rubbing my forehead. I looked at my hand wrapped in leather gloves mid way and that I couldn't feel my face. I jumped up, fully awake trying to understand what was happening. My sides felt heavy, slowly I moved my hands to my waist feeling two sheathes at my side. I moved my fingers up the sheathe feeling some hilts. I grabbed the hilts pulling out to zigzagged daggers. I recognized the design immediately, but I couldn't believe my own eyes. I couldn't get another thought in my head before I heard the screaming of people. An arrow whizzed past grazing my shoulder cutting slightly, I flinched at the pain grabbing my shoulder as I turned seeing a mob of people.
"Kill him!" one shouted.
"Tear him apart!", said another, as a row of archers started aiming at me. I ran my mind blank, I couldn't think of what to do. I heard the voice from my dream again. I finally recognized the voice, it was Shaco.
"Deceive and retreat for now, you can slaughter them later," he said.
"But I don't want to slaughter people," I said back but got no response. I didn't know how to deceive so I thought hard, thinking of going invisible blinking forward. A laugh escaped my lips as I smiled under the mask as a puff of orange smoke surrounds me. I left the smoke my skin still visible to me, but somewhat transparent, but it was clear that the people couldn't see me anymore. I kept running into the forest as long as I could collapsing on my knees in front of a lake. I crawled up to the lake looking into the lake surface.
"I'm Shaco," I said staring into the smiling mask of my favorite champion. Now I only had one question.
"WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING!" I screamed into the lake, the clear reflection of Shaco being distorted by the ripples from my scream.
