Ms. Annie walked quickly, her heels tapping against the floor of the Nashville train station, as my little 3 year old brother, Ben, clung to me. She mumbled to herself about how we were too old, too young, Ben always saying that we were a package deal, potential parents just didn't like us- so many reasons why nobody wanted to foster or adopt us. She grasped 2 tickets to Chicago, because our foster home had moved there from New York. Why we were in Nashville? Ben and I had run away, but Miss Annie came and got us, then decided it would be easiest to just go to Chicago from Nashville.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a ticket. A ticket good for 2 one way trips to New York. I made sure Ms. Annie wasn't looking, picked it up, and ran away. Before I had left our last foster home, I had stolen some money, and my foster mom's old iPhone, so I knew I at least had a small chance to make it in New York City. I had to feed Ben somehow, but I wasn't proud of stealing money. I didn't go to school because my foster mother thought that I should just cook, clean, and smile. I just stayed home and did online school on my family's computer without my foster parents knowing.

I ran to the station where the train going to New York had just pulled in. The conductor looked at my ticket, and said I was free to go. Ben looked at me.

"Where Miss Annie?" He said, Ben's little nose crinkling in disgust. She once was holding him, and dropped him, so he definitely didn't like her. I get $50 every 3 months by bribing her with that information, even going as far to write a report but never turning it in.

"We won't be seeing her for a while. Don't worry bud." With that, he fell asleep, and I looked out the window, and could see Nashville in the distance.

hmmmm..... I am really excited for this!!
