"I'm so lost.. I feel like I'm drifting off into space.
Everyone that walks by me doesn't know my story.
They wouldn't care to either.
Because I'm just another that doesn't defy
Gravity"
Just as the old, looking back, idealize the past, so the young, looking forward, idealize the future. Illusion is the stuff of memory — and is at the heart of hope. ~Dr. Idel Dreimer

Walking down the street, driving down the highway, passing people in the airport, I have always wondered what people's past was. Their story. Some look like they are defying gravity, floating to the top of the world, while others are being dragged through their own tiny hell. Life is not always cakes and rainbows. We all go through rough patches, some larger than the others. Many have the will to battle through, defeating the darkness. Now you may be wondering about the others.. Just as Dr. Idel Dreimer once said "Gazing at the stars will not save you from the abyss at your feet.".
People rely on this "God", a being that supposedly is watching over them as their protector. If their "God" is their "protector" and does no bad, why does he kill the innocent and let the sinners live? Why allow amazing people to get cancer, let infants die, or kill sweet puppies?
If your "God" is so great, then why did none of your prayers go through as the planet you once lived on slowly died, flaking away like dead skin? If this savior existed, why would he permit you to leave his so called "creation"? Flying off into space, only to leave your love behind to attempt to pick up the pieces of your broken world.
He dies from suffocation because the atmosphere you once knew was gone. I observed him as he died, watched him take his last breath, felt his heart slow to a stop. You never realized he was gone because you had already found another man. I also notcied that. I notice everything. The people, technology, space, the stars, the few animals that survived the trip. Iwatcheverything.
It is always the same. Humans take their surroundings for granted until they finally run out. Then, they abandon the once fluorishing land to inhabit a new planet. I have to watch it happen. Every. Single. Time. And. I. Cannot. Do. Anything. About. It.

My fingers traced the crumbling stone, the once beautiful castle now falling to the dead Earth's grey ground. Sighing, I kicked the rubble around, my eyes zeroing on a small patch of orange. It was new life forming. Toobaditwilldieinafewcycles. You would imagine that this is wonderful news, but humans suck every vitamin, good or bad, into their machines to feed themselves, not allowing a tiny amount of growth.
Glancing around, I covered the small patch with rubble before grabbing my drone and strolling away. The sleek grey metal blended into the dying land perfectly, shielding me from the so call "intellgent ones". I found myself staring at the dark sky, shades of blue covered the midnight sky. Speckles of stars could be seen which was a surprise. dark grey clouds drifted, shielding some galaxies from my view. I loved space. It was my home, not Earth. I was ordered to observe these humans for Nexim. That bastard was just too lazy to come snoop for himself.
As I stargazed, I felt eyes on me. Once I turned around, I discovered a man. His eyes pierced into mine, chocolate brown into black. They demanded me to not move. "Who are you?" He questioned, his velvety voice echoing across the deserted area. Shrugging, I pulled out a cigarette, which I also learned to love this past century, "The name is Gravity." I stated, attempting to sound nonchalant, but in reality, I was rooted to my spot, " How are you on this fine day?" I continued, releasing smoke from my parched mouth and watching it drift into the sky. I noticed the man reach for an object in his pocket. Grunting, I casually reached my non-occupied hand, tapping against my beloved drone. I was hoping to appear impatient, but the look of realization on the man's face informed me that he finally figured out what I was. "You are the Gravity," his jaw tightened, "You better not be do what I think you are about to do, you are coming with me." He practically demanded, striding forward until he was within arms length.
"You are not my mother. Do not boss me around," I spat before puffing smoke into his face. My fingers found the desired button, which caused the tiny door to open. I needed to leave. now. The opening of the steel door caused him to lunge at me, trapping my smaller body against the frame. "Listen here, you little shit, you do as I say and come back to base, or this will not go well," He growled, causing me to snort, "No one holds gravity hostage because I can make you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders."
Suddenly, the soldier's large frame dropped, freeing me from his hold. Groaning, he attempted to move, but it was unsuccessful, "So I guess the legends are true." He rasped. I halted from my ascend up the steps, I snapped my head around and stalked back, "There are no legends because no one remembers me." I stated, pressing my rigid fingers against his temple, drawing another groan of pain. "No one. I am nothing because I am not to be remembered." And with that, his head dropped, unconscious.
