The tests continued for days, with many more sleepless nights to follow, each day I tried less and less so I didn't completely wreck myself like last time. The endurance varied from blood tests to exercise courses to simply shifting my emotions; all of which used a significant amount of energy. But one day they just stopped, I guess they decided I needed a break from their torture.

"Who's that?" "They call her Perfect, she's blind but has insane  OCD, it makes her all ticky and twitchy because everything can't be just the way she wants it." "What's her power?" "She can turn invisible, so she's always on close watch." "What about him?" "Unknown Armies. He can make shadow clones of himself, he's completely nuts."

It was one of those occasions where there was nothing to say, we would just sit there in silence and simply enjoy each other's company. I leaned my head on Pearl's shoulder and allowed myself to space out; someway, somehow my mind always circled back to Pearl. Her and I seemed to be complete opposites, I'm dull and drained and she's just so... perfect. Perfect Pearl. Her hair was bright, full of life and personality, the way it bounced on her shoulders when she walked and the way her tight curls frizzed out creating a red lion's mane of hair. Her eyes were a light green much like mine, but somehow they were different, almost as if they emitted their own source of light. Her lips were always a shade of pink, compared to the way mine tend to look blue from the cold, hers were always puffy and alive. Her mouth was always upturned into that smirk, that same smirk, it wasn't condescending or smug it was.. adorable. She spoke loudly and with passion but somehow it was soft and gentle. Her voice was motherly and sweet, she spoke lightly although it was still loud, I could listen to her talk for hours no matter what the topic was. There was a small amount of freckles gathered on her cheeks which always seemed to be pink as well. She walked with a purpose and intent to fulfill that purpose, whether it just be a conversation or something important. Her personality is just as bright as her hair, she's kind, caring, selfless, and beautiful.

Pearl is a great friend, my only  friend, but it's hard for me to think of us being just friends. I've fallen too deep and I can't crawl my way back out. My mind finally came back to reality only to see Pearl looking down at me. How long had she been looking at me? I felt my face start to heat up, "You're staring.." I mumbled, my voice was meek and quiet. She snapped out of her daze, "Oh! I'm sorry, I was just counting your freckles." "I didn't realize I had freckles." I replied. Pearl nodded "I've counted twenty-eight so far, I like them." An embarrassingly large grin took over my face, "I like yours too." I felt her lace her fingers around mine, "May I continue to count?" she asked. "You may."
