"When you pray, don't babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don't be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him." Matthew 6:7-8 (New Living Translation).

It is tempting to ramble when talking to God, because in dealing with people, we often have to repeat ourselves to be understood. However, in prayer, you must get to the point and talk to God like He already knows what you need. Your objective in prayer is to invite Him into your situation and you putting your trust in Him. Make a point of not saying the same thing over and over. Once you earn this simple principle, you will discover that it is truly liberating.

It will require some self-examination and self-discipline on your part at first, but that is a good thing. Your prayer times will become more effective and more meaningful.

Think about it: You would not want to ramble on and on if you should get a chance to speak to the president of the United States, would you? So why ramble on when speaking to God, the Ruler of the Universe? Get to the point. Keep it simple. God is smarter than you will ever know and He is ready to help you.

Action Step:

- Present your requests to the Lord today and make sure that you do not allow any useless repetitions in your conversation with Him.

- He already knows what you need and He just wants you to verbalize it in simple terms to show your faith and dependence on Him.
