Lola stood outside the damp front steps leading up to the sunshine coloured door, she felt electric with excitement and couldn't seem to stop herself from bouncing on the balls of her feet. She lifted her shaking hand to the door bell and nearly jumped out of her skin when the door opened to reveal a tall man.

"Right on time. Lola, is it?" said the man, all the excitement drained from Lola's body when she heard his calm voice. She nodded quickly at him. Warning bells were ringing in her head. Why do I feel scared all of a sudden? - she asked herself.

From where Lola was standing, she could see that his suit was well tailored and expensive looking. His hands were rough and his nails were bitten, and her neck felt like it was going to snap if she tried to peer up at his face, he was a lot taller than her. Without saying anything else, he gripped her arm and lead her inside the dimly lit house. Lola could feel his hunger through his touch. She hesitated at the doorway.

"What's the matter, doll face?" he crooned, as he turned back to look at her. She felt queasy. But she just blamed it on paranoia.

Lola delicately shook her head and flashed a shy smile. "It's nothing." And she was surprised by how small her voice sounded. The man gave an approving grunt and said nothing more. He stopped outside the second door down the hallway, so she guessed this was where the audition would take place. Yet she couldn't shake the feeling that this audition would be a short one, and not because Lola was a phenomenal model or anything.

When she applied to the modelling agency, she didn't even expect to get an email back, let alone be invited for an audition. She knew she wasn't the prettiest girl in the world, being only five foot four and having no visible cheekbones. She suddenly found herself wishing she had just stayed home today.

Inside was a kitchen, in the middle was one table and two cheap, plastic chairs. Lola lowered herself awkwardly into the chair, smoothing her mini skirt underneath her and watched him go over to the sink.

"Thirsty?" he asked as he filled a cup with water from the tap, keeping his back to her. She wanted to open her mouth and tell him that she didn't want anything to drink, that she felt sick and that she should just go back home and reconsider all of this. But he slammed the cup in front of her before she could say anything. "Go on, you'll feel better." he said, yet there was no sympathy in his voice. He probably wanted this over and done with as much as I did - Lola thought. So Lola took the cup and sipped gently, not wanting to displease him. The water tasted oddly bitter.

He didn't sit down in the chair across from her and instead rested his hand on the table, staring at her as if he was waiting for something. Then Lola realised what an idiot she'd been, but it was too late. The cup fell out of her hands and smashed onto the floor and her eyes slid shut.
