Gastina

Nina had never liked surprises. They usually overwhelmed her, she never dealt with the unexpected well so things could get awkward easily and Nina hated awkward situations. They also often messed with her plan for the day and she definitely preferred it when everything went how she had imagined it. She had always thought that she wouldn't have to use a pregnancy test until she was at least 25. And yet here she was, pacing around in the bathroom, at age 21, waiting for the three minutes to be finally over. At first she had suspected that it was just the flu coming up but since her period was still due now - it should have shown up a week ago - she had bought a digital pregnancy test. Nina had researched the topic before buying one and many had said that the second line wasn't always that visible and she just didn't have the nerves to guess if a second line was there or not. The timer beeped. Nina took a deep breath and walked towards the sink, her shaking hand hovering over the test. She picked the test up and looked at it. Pregnant 1-2 weeks. No, she thought. It's too early. They're too young. Her and Gastón's conversation about having a baby hadn't even been half a year ago! She closed her eyes for a few seconds, maybe she had just misread it! But when she opened them again the pregnancy test still had the same result. It hit Nina then. Her, pregnant! And with that her eyes flooded with tears.

Nina was still in the bathroom, staring at the positive pregnancy test. Suddenly, she heard footsteps. She managed to hide the pregnancy test in her sleeve just in time. "Hey, there you are!" Gastón said. His smile disappeared as soon as he saw her sitting against the bathtub, eyes still puffy. "What's wrong?" he asked worriedly. He walked over to her and crouched down. Nina wasn't scared to tell Gastón of her pregnancy, she knew he would be happy, perhaps shocked at first, but still happy. It was Nina herself that still struggled with the discovery she had made today. Right now all she wanted to do was to wallow in self-pity for another few hours. "Nina, you can tell me! In sickness and in health, remember?" she smiled a little at that and looked up. "I'm not sick," Nina told him. Gastón breathed a sigh of relief. "Has something happened to one of you family members?" he kept asking. "No... but speaking of family... we'll be three at Christmas this year!" she tried to tell him the news. "Why? Did you invite someone?" he asked, confusion written all over his face. "No, but if I had we would be four then," she gave him another hint. He still looked at her like he had no idea of what was going on, "Please just tell me. You're killing me here!" Sighing, she took the pregnancy test out of her sleeve and held it out to Gastón. "Are you serious?" Nina merely nodded, not trusting her voice. His eyes gleamed and he hugged her. "That's amazing!" he told Nina. She smiled weakly at him. "Are you happy?" Gastón asked concerned. "I'm still in shock right now. I mean, that's not something you wrap your head around in an hour and this wasn't planned and there goes my five year plan," she rambled, hiding her face in her hands. "No, hey, look at me! We can still do that. We just have to readjust a few things. We'll be fine, I promise!" he assured her. She looked up again, knowing he was right. "Oh my God, we're the first ones to have a baby. Ha. We beat the others to it," Gastón grinned widely. Nina couldn't help but chuckle, "We surely foiled a few predictions with this."

Simbar

Ámbar sat on the doctor's couch, still waiting for her doctor to come back with her blood test results. She looked at the clock again, seeing that her doctor had been gone for ten minutes now. Ámbar huffed. Surely, it shouldn't take that long to get her blood test results. With each second that passed Ámbar grew more anxious. What if it really was just the flu? The thought alone made her teary-eyed. "Get a grip," she muttered to herself. Her being this emotional and the fact that she'd been living off water and crackers for the past three days as she had been throwing up every morning should be proof enough. Of course, she had already taken a home pregnancy test but the the second line had been very faint. It didn't seem that reliable to Ámbar. It was kinda funny, the last two times when there had been no second line she had been devastated and now that there had been one she didn't trust the test. She just wanted to be 100% sure before she told Simón. Ámbar wouldn't be able to face him ever again if she told him she was pregnant only to find out that the test had been incorrect. That was why she had decided to take a blood test and not the digital pregnancy test as they could sometimes display a question mark. Ámbar needed a professional to tell her "Yes" or "No". She was so glad that Simón had a last minute talk show appearance with the band in some European country and would not return until this evening. Normally, she would have been not amused at all, but this had actually made things easier for Ámbar. The throwing up had started on the day he left. Simón had been so worried, she almost had to drag him towards the taxi. Ámbar wouldn't have had a quiet moment if he had stayed. Finally, the door opened and her doctor was back with a clipboard. She sat down on her chair and looked at Ámbar, "Seeing the results, I can say," she said with with a warm smile, "Congratulations, you are indeed pregnant!" This time Ámbar didn't care about the tears. She was just so happy. Her and Simón were finally going to be parents!
