Most kids your age would be able to stay out until midnight every other night, be able to go to parties, not have a curfew, had their license... But not you. You've lived under a strict household your whole life due to your dad being a cop. The rules set by your parents were pretty simple: go to school, go to practice, come home, do homework, eat dinner as a family, go to bed. On the weekends you had a curfew of 10pm. It was 9pm until your mom finally talked your dad into a little leniency.

You felt trapped. You were lucky you were even able to be a part of an after school sport. You knew your dad only set these rules because he loves you and wants to protect you but sometimes it's too much for you to handle. Some days you want to scream and run away from everything but you would always talk yourself out of it because you didn't want to deal with the consequences of getting caught. But what if one day, you didn't get caught? What if the one night you did go through with running away and never came back home? Just one night, you wanted to experience what it was like to live and not be the goody-to-shoes that everyone made you out to be.

You were lying on your bed one night attempting to study for your science test that you had the next day. You were never really good at the subject so you've been studying your flash cards all week in order to prepare. You groaned as you got yet another card wrong. Becoming frustrated, you put down your flash cards and notes to turn on the music on your phone. As soon as you opened the music app, you got a text from your best friend.

Whatcha doinnnnn...

Studying, which you should be doing too

Nobody's got time for that when there's a life to live.

What do you want, y/f/n?

A big group of people are going down to the lake... couple beers, couple cute guys ;)

You know, of all people, that I can't go

C'mon, y/n! You need to live every once and while. You're not going to accomplish anything by hiding in your bedroom studying all night...

She was right. All you've done your entire life was obey your parents' rules and live a boring life. It was time you stop letting life pass you by and start living it. Twenty years from now, you're going to look back on this moment and regret being such a boring person. You needed to live a little. You needed this night to happen.

Okay, fine. You talked me into it.

YES! Btw, I'm already here at the lake so I've sent someone to pick you up so make sure to change out of your sweats and wear something cute ;)

Who exactly did you send?

Michael.

As in Michael Clifford?

That's the one. I know you've had a crush on him for ages so I figured I'd see what could happen if I asked him to pick you up.

I do not have a crush on him!

Michael Clifford. His name was very well-known around the town. He always came off as the bad boy of the city but you felt like there's a soft spot still somewhere in him. You've known him since you were little as you both grew up on the same street. The two of you used to be best friends until you grew up. Michael started hanging out with the wrong people and so your dad forbade him from ever coming around you. Which then led you and Michael to stop talking all together. You two would exchange awkward glances in the school hallways (on the days he would be there) and that was the extent of your conversations.
