I groaned as i woke up from the bright light that struck my face on a Saturday. I turned to the side to check what time it was. I sighed after i figured out that it was only 8 in the morning. Knowing that i wasn't going to go back to sleep, i decided to go downstairs and eat something.
"What are you doing up so early?" My mom asked with her back facing me. She must've heard my groaning.
"I don't know" i walked over to the stove to see what she was making. "Pancakes again?" I said disappointed.
"There's waffles in the freezer help yourself." She said. I sat on the couch and looked for something to watch.
"What happened to all the good channels?" I mumbled to myself. I went on my phone to go on Instagram.
"You need to do something else besides going on that phone."
"Like what? Start a club?" I said sarcastically. My mom stood in front of me and put her hands on her hips. It looked like she wanted me to be serious about the club scenario.
"If that's what you wanted to hear.. then no." I continued to scroll as she continued to talk.
"You're not responsible enough to hold a club. I'm saying go out and do things you enjoy."
"Um if you haven't noticed already, everything i enjoy involves being indoors." She rolled her eyes and walked away.
"Go to that old music store." She shouted from her bedroom. I haven't been to that music store in years. That store was like home. I thought about leaving to remember why i used to go there.
"I'll be back." I shouted as i headed out the door. When i reached the stores door it started to sprinkle. Inside it smelled like vanilla and coffee. I looked for the 1975's new album 'i like it when you sleep for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it'.
"The 1975 eh?" I heard a fairly deep voice say behind me. I jumped, dropping the album. I turned around to see a guy with dark brown hair and eyes, wearing a black shirt and joggers.
"I didn't mean to scare you." He said bending down to pick up the album.
"You didn't." I replied choosing not to make eye contact. I'm starting to feel embarrassed just because I'm not dressed properly. I had on a grey long sleeved shirt, and navy blue shorts, with Nike slides.
"Are you sure?" He chucked. I nodded, taking back the album.
"I'm Julian."
"Alaska." I smirked. He held out his hand for me to shake it.
"Cute name."
Julian smiled.
"Thanks." I let go of his hand to turn around and continue to search. He stood next to me and did the same.
"How old are you?" He asked trying to keep up a conversation.
"17, why?"
"Just a question girly, I'm 19"
"Neat." I said.
The silence between us was awkward and lasted a while. I glanced up at him to catch him staring at me.
"Staring is rude." I put the album back, because I didn't bring money
"Well then don't wear clothes that will make people stare," He said. "At least match.
I rolled my eyes and walked towards the door.
"Where you going?" He asked, hearing him follow me.
"Home."
"Why?"
I gave him a look to let him know he was dumb. "Because I live there."
He ran his fingers through his hair. "Okay, I guess I'll catch you later."
I smirked and walked out the store. It stopped raining on my way home. My mom was lying on the couch watching T.V.
"You left the door unlocked." I told her. Then headed upstairs.
