Hey! First off, thanks for reading my story so far. I hope you all are enjoying it. I realized that my chapters are really long and need to be worked on. I will hopefully have it worked out soon. This chapter is the rest of the first chaper and the first part of the second. This story means a lot to me, but I know that it has a lot of really out there things in it. I am truly not meaning to offend anyone. And this chapter has some really taboo things in it that I am kinda reconsidering. Let me know what you think about it so far and if I am pushing it too much. This chapter isn't really meant for anyone under 13. I wish they had a setting to 16 and up but they don't so I will just have to deal with it. I will be cutting a few things out of the of here soon, so if it starts to get confusing or certain things don't make sense, please feel free to let me know. The worst parts of this story are based on facts that I researched myself about the darker parts of history. I am hoping to eventually become a writer so I need all the feedback that I can. Thanks. =)
No… it wasn’t that. She hadn’t had to deal with him in over fifteen hundred years. He was no longer on her path of existence. Not since she had met her other half. After that he should have moved on to find his other half as well. She had known that he could be stubborn, but would he really follow her and search for her life force just to be with her again? No. It wasn’t him. He was bad… but this.. thing was evil. It had let the anger and hatred twist its life force into something that was never to be allowed on this plain of existence again. It would never again be human. It was pure evil. And it had to be destroyed. She hadn’t had to fight something like this in ages. She could feel it. But what was scaring her… was the fact that she knew this thing. It felt familiar.
It felt like it had shared a lifetime or more with her. Could it be him? Would he really let himself become like this?
She wasn’t ready to find out. She could feel the energy around her. And she knew that whatever it was, had to wait. It was waiting for something. Of that she was sure.
“Run my love! It wants ye. Itsa been waitin’ for ye. Itsa been searchin’ for ye for many a year now. Itsa tellin’ me to let go so that it may have ye back. Itsa sayin’ that ye and it… no.. him were meanta be. Itsa dun this to me. Its be needin’ a body. Run. And know that I be dyin’ this day. I willna be comin’ home as I promised ye. I love ye. An I’m sorry.” He told her as the last bit of strength left him.
He was gone.
And nothing in this life was going to bring him back. She felt like she was missing something. Like everything in her had been ripped out. She couldn’t believe he was gone.
Then the sword moved. It slowly started to slide out of his body. His arm moved. It pulled the sword out and dropped it on the ground in front of her. He slowly lifted his head.
His eyes flew open, as a smile as wicked as the devil himself slid across his face. Even as he was alive before her. It all felt so wrong. All of it. This wasn’t her husband. It was that thing. Her husband had been right. It wanted her. And it was going to have her if she didn’t think of something quick.
Chapter Two
She stared at him for a moment. Unsure of what she was going to do. Then she heard him in her head.
“Well, Atheana, it has been a long time. You should never have left me. I am your husband after all. Is that any way for a wife to act?” He said through stolen vocal cords. It was her husband’s sweet voice and this monster’s as well.
“Ye are no my husband! My husband is dead. Ye are nothing more than a thief. And who is this Atheana? Ima no her.” She told him.
Just then the memories from a life that she had thought she would never have to remember slammed into her. It was her first life. The one that had made her so weary of falling for anyone. The one that had taught her the hardest lesson of all.
Love wasn’t real, unless you were both willing to lay your life on the line to save the other. If you weren’t willing to die for your love… then it was meaningless. Love is the only thing worth dying for. The only reason you should ever lay your life down for another.
541 A.D. Constantinople
She was at home. They had been married for almost two years. The times were good to them. She had known him since she was little. They had been raised as brother and sister. Then when they were of age, were told that they were to be married at the first sign of her womanhood. She did not understand what this meant until the day she woke up with a pain in her stomach. She told her mother that it felt as if she were dying. Her mother assured her that it was nothing more than a sign that the time of her marriage was upon them.
Her mother told her father the news. The wedding was held that night. She didn’t really want to marry Ulrin, but she had no choice in the matter. She was female and had no say.
Her new husband was a full three years older than her. He had been trained for what was to become their wedding night. He was told what would happen. She was told to do as she was told.
That night, had brought much pain. But she was used to it now. That was the way of it. She was sure that everyone had to go through it. So she did everything that she was told by him to do. Some of the things he wanted were uncomfortable and some hurt a lot, but she didn’t complain. She would be a good wife. And he would protect her. It was a fair trade.
Then came the day that a strange illness appeared. It had been brought over by way of ship. It was a deadly thing. Everyone that caught it died in a matter of days. She had heard of it from a soldier that was passing by. She was so afraid that this would be brought to her great town, but said nothing. She finally asked her husband the questions that had been on her mind.
“Ulrin, do you think that this illness will reach us?” She asked.
“No. It won’t reach this far. It is only among the peasants. We have nothing to worry over.”
“But what if it did? What if I got it? What would you do?” She asked in a quiet voice.
“I would buy the best physicians to make you well.”
“And if they could not? What then?” She dreaded this answer.
He thought for a moment, then said ‘Then I would give you a peaceful and honourable death. And then I would give myself one as well.” Finally turning to look at her. She was quite pretty. Not nearly as beautiful as the wench he had been with for the last month. But she was pretty. She tried to be a good wife. But she was nowhere near it. She complained too much when he was having his way with her. The wench never complained. She begged for more. As a good woman should. But Atheana, well, she just didn’t know how to treat a man. But she would learn. He would make sure of it.
“Really? You would give your life for me?” She asked. Her face lighting up.
“Of course. It is my duty as a husband. And it is now your duty as my wife to come over here and please me.” He gave her a heated look.
She looked at him, let the dress she was wearing fall to the ground, then walked over to him. Waiting for him to tell her what he wanted. She stood there looking at the floor as he grabbed her by the hair and threw her on the bed. He jump on top of her and began biting her. Then he grabbed his dagger by the bed. And slowly dragged it over her back. She let out a slight squeal from the pain, then bit the cloth on the bed. She felt the dagger cutting deeper. And heard his breathing getting faster. The blade cut into her lower back, then her right buttock, that was when she realized what he was going to do.
“Please Ulrin, not that. I can stand it. It hurts to much. Please, anything but that. It hurts for so long afterward. I’m still not healed from the last time.” She begged as the tears rolled down her cheek.
“Good. You’ve learned to beg as a good wife should. But you’re still not begging the way you should. You will learn. And this will teach you how. You will give me everything I want. And you will never tell me no again.” He said in a low voice.
