"SHIT! SHITSHITSHIT!" Romy yelled. She threw one of her delicate heels across the room and started pulling off the other one.
I stand up and slink over to her as she bellows another round of expletives. I shove my hands into my pockets, and slump my shoulders making myself appear shorter. "Romy." I murmur. She stops immediately when she hears my voice.
"What are you doing?" She sniffs, and drops her arm. It was poised to hurl the shoe across the room. "I was going about my business when Jenny P. just, like, struts in!" She flails her arms angrily, I collapse back onto the couch. She continues.
"And guess what!"
"What?"
"She was dressed like a total slut!"
I smile at Romy. "Why is that bad?" She's gives me a look like I'm stupid. "Because, Adeline, I'm supposed to be the slutty one!" I smile wider now, trying to suppress a laugh. She sits next to me. Romy was still clearly agitated, she clutched her small shoe in her hand. I reach over and pull it out of her grip.
She lets out a long dramatic sigh, and throws her head back. "Do you want me to text David?" I ask. She nods. David was Romy's boyfriend. He looks like a total douche, and I realized after trying to get to know him, he is.
I pull out my phone.
Romy. Dorm. NOW.
I hit send. He replies quickly.
K
A man of many words. Ten minutes of Romy sulking pass, David shows up. He knocks sharply on the door. I open it, he rushes in and sits next to her on the tiny love seat. I know next would consist of cuddling, so I excuse myself quickly.
