Author’s note: This is not 100% autobiographical, but I was inspire to write this piece. I hope you enjoy.

You see her standing there

A smile on her red lips

Laughter ringing out

She seems happy

But you don’t see

What she feels inside

Darkness is her friend

Locking the door

Not wanting to come out

Tears streaming down her face

Blood staining her hands

Sleepless night once again

The pain taking over

You see her the next day

Same smile on her face

Same laughter ringing out

Her eyes seem puffy,

You don’t bother to ask why

She goes home again that day

Doesn’t talk to anyone

Refuses to eat

Starves herself skinny

She cries herself to sleep

Night after night

You assume she is fine

Not bothering to ask

If she is okay

She is waiting for a savior

Someone to save her from herself

Someone to step in

And hug her

To take the razors and throw them away

But yet her cries

Go unheard once again

She struggles every day

To pretend she is happy

Her false mask slipping

Seeking solitude more and more

Needing to escape

No one coming to her aide

The signs going unseen

You see her every day

You assume she is fine

Then one day

You find her sitting alone

Tears streaming done her face

You just walk by

Not caring why she cries

Not bothering to ask why

All she needs

Is a friend

Someone to come to her aide

Hug her while she is crying

Tell her she is beautiful

Take away the razors

And help make her smile

All she needs

Is a friend

But she goes without one

Everyone assumes she is fine

Not bothering to talk to her

Not bothering to delve deeper

She rarely lets people in

She is use to heart break

And being tossed aside,

But all she needs

Is one friend

Who will come to her

And be her saving grace

On her darkest days.
