Rain

It was raining the first time they met. He was the stray intruder and she was the fallen Queen. He vowed to his duty in war and she wished for none. Two different paths crossed each other in a fight of another man's life as it started raining.

The second encounter was when both were locked up in an enemy’s territory. The floor was moist from the rain outside. For the first time, they saw each other eye-to-eye and share their conflicting past. He was an average young man, living to serve his King with a life mission and she was just a young girl who once lived as her own person and not for the people. It wasn’t long that they had to go to their own destiny again in the dark corners of the prison.

The woman was taking her big step in stopping the war. For once, she wanted a change but for the first time, she stained her hands in blood to save her ally. An action she regretted.

The man had his sister, the remaining family he had, murdered in the midst of the war. Despaired, he vowed his revenge to everyone involved in the war.

The last meeting was like when they first met. It was pouring cat and, and like their first encounter, it was cold and lifeless. She sat on the wet ground and red color was dripping off the dagger while he, who was poisoned and injured by the dagger, lied his head on her lap.

Eyes closed but he bore a smile. With a single breath, the man took her hand with the poisoned dagger and both of their hands moved and jabbed on her left chest.

The traitor and the crybaby. If fate had given them a chance, if the sun shine upon them, they would still be there walking in the same path, be it for more chaos or tranquility.

“Sleep, my love, for the rain wash our sin and burden away.”

For it had always been raining each time they had met.
