the light
pooled around
her, illuminating the
night suffocating her. she
was drowning in the tears that
flooded from her eyes, her
voice muted by the
pillow.
the monsters
crept from beneath
her bed, and found their
way into her head, ripping her
to pieces from the inside out. she
watched as everyone around
her ignored the pain
in her eyes.
she slipped into
the darkness, falling
through the cracks of the
floorboard, her fingers bleeding
and aching as she tried to
keep hold of her grip
on reality.
but then
became she evanescent,
vanishing from the world she
once felt so alive in. she was dead,
or so she felt, maybe her
body wasn't, but on
the inside.
