I struck the match against it's box and watched it burn into ash, it burnt my hand but I didn't really notice.
"If mum were here she would lecture you about burning thing" Liz my twin sister said.
"No she wouldn't of. She would be to hungover to know that I was in the room" I struck back.
Liz gave me a pained look and returned to the book she was reading.

Our mother had died a week ago from an ice OD. Liz was obviously trying to hide how sad she was, she still was convinced that she was a great mum like she was when we were seven. I didn't really feel anything about mum's death i just felt numb but that wasn't saying much I had felt numb for the past three years.

We sat on a park bench waiting for the Jones, our new foster family to finish playing on the swings. The family was very nice and was trying their best to help us fit in. The dad Jeff was a history teacher at the local High School, the school Liz and I would be starting at on Monday. The mum Rachel also worked at the High School as a teachers aid two days of the week and the rest of the time was a stay-at-home mum. They had three kids, all younger than me. Lucy, the youngest who was in year 2 had curly light brown hair that flew around all over her face when ever her dad pushed her on the swing. Sam, the middle child and the only boy was in year 6, he had messy dark brown hair the same color as mine. He was trying to pull his younger sisters shoes off every time she swung forward on the swing. The one time he managed to Lucy started crying, this made his mother scold him, he walked a few meters away, hang his head in sham and rub his left arm. The there was the eldest, Milly she was in the year below Liz and I in year 8, she had neat blond hair and grey eyes unlike her siblings who had hazel eyes; she was swinging on the swing next to her sister.

As nice as they were the Jones seemed to like Liz more than me, I wasn't offended it made sense. She was optimistic girl who loved to read and play with kids. them there was me a guy who hated sports, had old self-harm scars and had a weird obsession with fire. If I was them I'd like Liz better too.

"Andy come on" my sister shook me out of my daze "we're going."
