Chapter 2

"I will avenge your daughter." She just nods at me. "You are dismissed."

" We are outside waiting, Alpha." Maggie's soft voice comes through the link. I walk outside and see them half naked. I the cool breeze brings me the smell I need.

"North." Everyone shifts. My wolf is larger then everyone's by a foot. Jade is midnight black with a green diamond shape on our nose.

We start running through the woods. I smell again. " They are two miles out everyone. Get into formation."

I go out in front with Kyle, the rest follow behind. The trees pass by me in a blur. "Stop. Dustin, Tyler go around the back." I command.

They go quietly through the trees. I could hear them talking around a campfire. "Did you hear the way that girl begged? Help me, help me please!"

They start laughing. Five of them. My anger reaches a high point. No one, touches my pack. I shift back to human form.

"Now." Dustin and Tyler take the two in the back, teeth ripping their necks. My focas is on the leader.

He tries punching me, I duck and punch him in the side. He goes down moaning. I look around, the other three are dead.

One with his head cut cleanly off. I wasn't the only one angry. I use fire to wrap the leader higher up so his feet don't touch the ground.

His eyes widen in fear. "For the crime of murder, I sentence you to death, by my hand." I say. I summon a fire ball.

"I will make it fast, though you don't deserve it."

"Listen little girl. Your time is coming." I smirk.

I wind my hand back and throw it at his chest, he engulfs in flames instantly. I look back at my fighters.

They have blood on them, but no wounds. I taught them well. "Let's go back." We shift and head back.

Later in the night, I lay on my bed looking at the ceiling. I wonder about my mate. I soon drift off, ignoring the dull pain in my chest.

I wake up, wipe my groggy eyes and head to the shower. The warm, cascading water soothing my muscles.

I get out, wiping myself off. I grab my training clothes. A black shirt, sweat pants, and my boots. A tap sounds at the door.

Kyle, I know before I answer it. "What's up?" I asked. " Im just reminding you about the ball we need to go to."

Huh? He seemed to see it in my face. "Tell me you didn't forget." He snorted. " I feel like your personal planner. It's at the Dark Shadow territory . At seven so we need to leave at five."

"Ok, jeez no need to get angry." I laugh. "I'm going to train. What time is it?" "Noon, and if your late i'm leaving you." He said smiling.

I close the door on his face. "Ow." He walked away mumbling.

I jump through my second story window and land gracefully on my feet.

Deciding to work on my cardio, I stretch and take off running into the trees. I take my time enjoying the woods in mid-summer.

After a couple of hours, I sit and rest my head against a tree. I start thinking about my mom and dad. I was eleven when they were killed.

Flashback

"Where are we going?" I whine. "Somewhere special, sweetie." My mom says, smiling at my dad.

Her beautiful blonde hair blowing in the breeze. "Fine." I huff. We have been walking in the woods for awhile now, and my feet were starting to hurt.

"We are here." My dad says. I jump with joy. Finally. We walk out of the cluster of trees. My eyes widen.

There was a river with a waterfall. Bright orange flowers cover the stone sides. A doe was drinking in the stream.

My father lays down our blanket and picnic basket. We sit down, my mother lays out the food, and we start eating.

"This is where I asked your mother to marry me." They look at each other with love in their eyes. When I get older I want love like that.

Dad starts telling jokes, me and mom start laughing.

All of a sudden, It gets quiet. The birds stop chirping, the doe looks up and runs away. My father stiffens and looks at me.

"Swim across the river and run." He whispers to me. I nod. We get up and I run toward the river and jump in.

The water is freezing. The strong current slams on my small frame, threatening to pull me down. I fight it and start swimming.

When I get to the other side I pull myself up onto the bank. I look back. My parents are facing five men.

My father stands in front of my mother. She looks back at me and mouths "I love you, run."

They shift. The men soon after. Fighting breaks out. My father takes down two. The larger wolf jumps on him, clamping his teeth on his neck.

He twists, breaking his neck. My mother howls, before the remaining wolves jump on her too. I cry out.

There is nothing I could do, I take off running through the trees. Tears run down my cheeks.

I slip and fall multiple times. Finally I stay down. I cry for a long time, mourning for my parents death.

Finally men from my pack come. The alpha pulls me into a hug. "I'm sorry Jessica."

After my memory, I drift off to sleep. When I awake, I look at my phone 4:30.

"Shit." I get up and run back to my house. I go upstairs and slam my door shut. I take a quick shower.

Rummaging through my closet, I pull out a dress. It's black, has a shoulder strap with emerald green running down the side.

I throw it on. I prefer my leather and combat boots so much more. I look at myself in the mirror.

The black and green match my hair and eyes perfectly. I have a feeling tonight will be special. If not, the promise of booze and women would be a great alternative.
