I stood at the entrance to the aisle, filled with nervous energy. While waiting for my signal, I promptly adjusted my dress, a formal wear natural for this occasion, and adjusted the plain tiara upon my done-up hair. Every moment that counted down to me walking down the aisle filled me with even more nervousness. My grey eyes darted around, trying to calm myself. I am scared. I know I am.
Thalia finally nodded to me, signalling for me to begin my ascent to the Priestess waiting at the alter. Walking forward is slow and purposeful steps, my pale blue dress with golden trimmings dragged behind me in flowing train. Ray told me I look beautiful in the dress, but I don't think dresses suit me. But, if he said it suited me, then it must be so, since the love of my life would never lie to me.
I saw my twin brother, waiting beside the Priestess, holding the royal scepter and the royal orb on a plush cushion. He smiled proudly at me, despite not being the one crowned. I wish he would be. He'd make a better ruler than me. He doesn't believe so. I do.
Coming to an abrupt stop before the Priestess, and bowed upon my knees before her. "Today we gather within the Church of Star for a joyous ocasion," the Priestess declared, her soft voice somehow commanding the attention of all the humans and non-humans in the altar room, "Today, our heir to the throne, our crowned princess, becomes our crowned queen." The Priestess nodded to my brother, whom held the plush cushion out to me so I could take the royal orb and scepter.
I did so graciously, my head bowed to the Priestess. My mind began to wander as the Priestess recited the words I had heard thousands of time before. My wandered and wandered, all the way back. Back to when my world, myself, was changed for good, for better or worse. Back to the letter that started it all..........
