March 2003
-

Cas stared at the night sky, somber and starless, perfect for something, he just had nothing to do. He just decided he needed to get out of the house for a while and the night always had a different kind of feel than the day like a tangy feeling. He twisted his head back at the house, his eyes immediately leading to his room. A huff of air left his mouth as he stuffed his hands into the warmth of his jean pockets.

He finally got the guts to escape the yard and when his feet hit the cracked, jagged pavement that was the sidewalk, he felt free. As he started walking down the sidewalk he looked behind every couple seconds out of paranoia, thinking he heard something, or the fact he didn't bring a flashlight.

He scuffed along the sidewalk listening to the now on the brink of annoying chirp of crickets and noise his jacket would make as he walked. But under all of that very faintly he heard music. Just faintly but he knew it was there. It was loud and electro sounding. It intrigued him so he crossed the road and let his ears lead him to where it was coming from.

In the distance he could see bright lights, changing color and moving. He heard people talking too but completely disregarded it, just jogged a little faster to wherever he was going.

Whatever it was was fenced in but the fence was bars so he could see right through. He creeped up to the fence trying to go unnoticed because he probably wasn't welcome here.

He saw tables filled with alcohol and people chugging it through a funnel. He grabbed onto the tall metal bars and looked back, wondering if he should go home.

No sooner that he turned back the face of another man was just staring back at him standing at the bars but not to close. Cas stood in a daze, wondering if he should run but, everything told him to stay.

"Who are you?" The man growled. "Never seen you around campus." He said in a softer tone.

"Umm, my name is Castiel." That's all Cas could choke of after realizing this was a collage party.

He sat there dazed still staring at the guy, he thought about how stupid he probably looked. Cas backed up a bit from the rails when the man didn't say anything else for a while.

"No, no stay." He smiled. "Are you even old enough to go to collage?" The guy asked. "N-no I'm 17. It's my senior year in high school."

"Mmm." He hummed. "You shouldn't be out this late." The man told him.

"I'm not a little kid." Cas hissed defensively.

The guy chuckled. "I don't care what you are to be honest with you. Your hot." He said out of no where. Like it was normal to call a guy you just met hot.

Castiel blushed. "You ain't so bad lookin yourself." Cas wondered when he went from yelling at this guy to
flirting with him.

"I know." He smiled.

Cas rolled his eyes. "Whats your name?" Cas asked, though the way he worded it sounded childish and off putting.

"Dean." He told him firmly.

Cas looked up at the sky, pitch black not a star shining through the heavy coat of fog. He could only barely see a outline of the moon. "I should probably get home." Cas turned back around to face Dean.

Dean scratched at the back of his head. "It's kinda dark and cold tonight. Want me to drive you?" Dean asked.

A smile grew across Cas's face. "If you wouldn't mind that be great." Cas said looking down trying to hide the smile that grew bigger across his face as he said what he did. He couldn't believe he got the courage to say that to a complete stranger. This guy could be a mass murder for all he knew.

"It's fine." The guy said as he jumped into the black rails shimmying so effortlessly up. Cas looked up at him in awe knowing he could never do that. He jumped down on the side Cas was on and let out a huff as he hit the ground. Cas backed up a little bit after his feet hit the ground.

Dean motioned Cas with his hand and started walking, not saying a word. Dean led him to the side of the sidewalk where a 67' impala was parked.

Dean patted the hood. "This her, shes all mine." He smiled proudly as he left his hand on the hood.

Cas inspected it. He wasn't quite what you'd call a car person but this car was beautiful and even he could admit that. "She's a beauty." Cas said still look it up and down. "I know." Cas could hear the smile in Dean's voice.

"What are you waiting for? Hop in." Dean told Cas as he was half way in the driver seat himself.

Cas went around the other side to get in the passenger seat. He had barely shut the door before Dean starting driving. Cas didn't bother to buckle his seatbelt, he never did, and now was no exception it was just a habit and he didn't even know if he trusted Dean's driving.

He told Dean the directions to his road, Dean didn't respond, he just turned the radio on.

Cas shifted in the seat feeling awkward, nobody talked. He wanted to start a conversation but he don't know what to say to this guy.

"Where do you live?" Dean asked plainly. Cas looked up now aware of his surroundings.

"Just a couple houses up." Cas pointed forward.

Dean slowly drove up glancing at the other house out of the corner of his eyes before Cas finally stopped him.

"right here." He pointed to a nice two-story house on the left side of the street.

He sat in the seat awkwardly for a second before looking over at Dean and smiling. "Thank you."

Dean smiled back. "How about you sneak out with me tomorrow night too?"

Cas glanced up at Dean "I could do that."
