The air inside the tiny coffeeshop was warm and greeting. It smelled like coffee and cinnamon.Only few people were sitting in the sofas and chairs at the back and it was quiet and comforting. There was no one standing in line to waiting for their coffee. The only person was a girl hunched over the espresso machine muttering something to herself. I slwoly walked up to the counter. The girl didn't seem to notice me. At least she didn't make any effort to help me.
"Hey, sorry", I said shyly.
She turned her long black hair flowing behind her. Her expression was startled like, I had just caught doing sonething incredibly intimate. Then she started smiling, before saying: "Welcome, here at Tanyas backery, how can I assist you?"

I must have looked even more confused then I felt, because she continued.

"Fuckin' Hell, I know it sounds stupid, what do you want?"

"Just a coffee, simple black.", I said still confused but thankful she cleared things up. She nodded and turned back in the direction of the espresso maker.

"I like your shirt, by the way!"

I looked down at my shirt. I was wearing a black shirt with the print #gayandproud on it. It was one of many shirts I loved but never had the balls to wear. I smiled. I'd never gotten a compliment on it. I was lost in thought, not noticing that the girl had finished my coffee and put it on the counter.

"3$, please"

I looked up and grabbed a five dollar bill from my sweater pocket.
She took it, and gave me my change.

"Thanks!", I said pulling an akward smile. She smiled back, winked at me and turned back to the espresso maker.
I left the store wondering, cute girls don't wink at me that just doesn't happen.... or maybe it did!
