Part 1

Chapter one

Makayla's POV

The condition my village was in at the moment sent tremors through my body. Houses had collapsed in a heap of charred bricks and wood. Some where, an alarm was going off signaling a fire. Too bad there was no one to control it. Now homeless, terrified people ran through the streets. The question in the back of my mind.

"Who did this?" Came out if my lips.

A nearby neighbor of my mine, says "The same person who does it to every other pack in his way."

Collin Samuels.

The wolf-less,unforgiving, heartless as*hole had struck again.

I couldn't seem to understand how this had actually happened. And I don't think I really ever will. My guardian since I was 6, David came running in my direction. He put both hands on my shoulders and looked into my eyes and whispered

"Makayla, you need to go. Now, they're coming and there's no time left."

Confusing written on my face, I scrunched my eyes rows.

"David, Who's coming?"

He turned and looked at the fire engulfing my neighborhood. He shook his head and looked at the ground, the same thing he does every time he is thinking of a plan. He turns back to the fire and says

"Makayla, I have to ask you to do something."

"What, what what?" I choked back tears.

"I need you to run."

As I looked behind David's large frame, I saw several figures coming from the cloud of smoke.

"RUN MAKAYLA RUN!" He yells as one man raises a gun.

I turned and jetted for the woods. At the edge of the trees, I glance back to see David on his knees and a bullet going through his head.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I lost track of how long I've been running. The sound of my life being torn away faded and the silence of the woods took its place. I bent over my knees and let of a deep breath. I dug my fingers under the over growth and moist soil hit my skin. Following the moistness in the ground, I tracked a small stream about 200 yards away. Cupping my hand full of water, I sipped the ice cold water. Sighing, I stood back up and began continuing my journey.
A heard the faint sound of the crunch I leaves and looked around me, not stopping. Hearing it again and confirming something or someone was behind me, I picked up my pace. Soon enough, what ever it was had decided to stop its silly charade and Yolo it. I began sprinting trough the trees, the fastest I could go. My heart beat pounded in my ears as my breathe grew ridged. My eyes watered and blinded me slightly. As blurry as my surroundings were, I kept my pace and raged on.
A low growl pierced my ears. The air leaped from my lungs as a large grey wolf jumped from the side. My arms went instinctively to my head as I waited for impact. But nothing came. I let my arms fall to my sides as I looked for the wolf. On the ground, the wolf layer in a puddle of blood. A dagger dug into his side. I crouched down and retrieved a small log. Raising the log, I whacked the wolf across the head. His head now fell limp as I mumbled
"Damn Werewolves."
I frowned at the knife embedded in his side. As much as it looked painful, I slowly pulled it from his flesh,thinking it would be useful in the woods. As I examined the dagger, a emblem caught my eye.
Oh Shit, it's a god damn hunter's Dagger.
I turned,ready to run, but I hit some sort of tree.As I looked up to see who it was that stood before me, the sight of him made my legs shake. A breath hitched in my throat.
I looked into the blue eyes of Collin Samuels. My wolf purred, the contact of the person I least wanted to feel this way about was the one making my wolf purr.
One name that made me quiver in fear and disgust.
One word that sparked a fire that could not be tamed.
Mate.
