I let out a small breath and allowed my eyes to travel around the restaurant. Jocks along with bikers were lined up against the walls, taking swigs of beer and letting out loud sounds of laughter. It was quite interesting watching everyone drink 'til they couldn't stand properly. I'd occasionally hear hollers across the room when jocks decided to get into it with bikers. Crazy how well they got along on some nights but not others. Tonight just happened to be one of the nights everyone was getting along.
"Another Corona, dear?" The bartender asked, raising an eyebrow at me. He was quite the eye catcher. A nicely shaved beard. Deep brown eyes. So instead of shaking my head, I grinned slightly and nodded.
He reached under the bar and placed the Corona in front of me, popping the cap. "'Preciate it." I said, grasping the beer.
"No problem, doll."
It wasn't very often that I came here to BearDen but tonight was one of those nights my thoughts of him were trying to get the best of me. Lord knows I did not need any of that. The only place I thought of was here. But hey, it was a distraction right? A good one at that, too. Sudden bursts of voices and yells came about just as my eyes landed on one of the biggest bikers in the place. With a tightly fitted white t-shirt, leather jacket, and spiky headband this dude looked like a bad ass. He was in the middle on tackling one of the skimpy jocks. The sight was an interesting one and it was clear and obvious who was winning the brawl.
"Think ya tough, huh son? Shut ya god damn mouth or I swear, I'll knock those rotten teeth out in two seconds flat." The bikers voice was deep and he sounded very old. But immediately I got the hint he was true to his words. He let go of the jock, letting him hit the floor with a thud that was loud enough to be heard throughout the restaurant.
Roars erupted as the bikers all lifted their arms in appraisal. The biker wasn't focused on that though. He was shaking his head, walking towards the entrance. I furrowed my eyebrows. What the hell? What bad ass walks away after a fight like that? Hell, if I had've beat someone that well I would've been celebrating! Clashes of beer glasses hitting each other became the main sound in my ears. I watched the jock being picked up by his other guy friends. Blood was strolling down his mouth. Grimacing, I turned away and swallowed some beer.
"Finished with this one already, doll? I'll get it outta your way." The bartender began reaching for my Corona and as he did, I took the chance to stuff $50 into his hand.
"Keep the change." Was all I said before I hopped off the stool. My shoulder length red hair took the jump well as it was still completely straight and not tangled. My bangs, however, covered just a bit of my eye. Adjusting my shirt and ripped jeans, I started towards the doors of the restaurant.
"Wait! What's your name?" The bartender called after me.
Hayley. My name's Hayley. But that's not important information to know. Is it?

I stepped out of the restaurant and immediately felt the great breeze. The sky was dark and the streets were only lit by worn down lampposts. Stuffing my hands into my pockets, I turned to the left. Only to see the same biker who had beat the jock inside. He was leaned up against the brick wall, smoking a cigarette. I walked up to him, careful to keep my distance. It was still obvious he was heated from what happened moments before.
"You did well in there. People were cheering for you as if you're some sort of superhero." I hinted a giggly laugh as I said superhero.
His eyes stayed straight forward as he blew smoke from his mouth. Although I am sure I caught was sounded like a small laugh. "A superhero, huh? I must be one fucked up superhero then." After saying so, he took a glance at me. "What brings such a small girl here, talking to a big dude like me?"
I smiled. "I'm a bit tipsy so forgive any weird things that may come out of my mouth. But, because you asked. I liked the way you fought in there. I wanted to know your name."
For a moment he stayed silent. I wasn't sure and couldn't tell if he had caught onto my lie about being tipsy but once he began speaking, I was certain he hadn't.
"Name's Henry. You are?" Another breath of smoke.
"Charlotte. But you can call me Lo." I said.
A grin appeared on his face. "Well, Lo, I'm certain I will see you around sometime. Maybe I can teach you some pointers if you were that fascinated with my fiasco tonight." And with that, he dropped the butt of the cigarette, smashed it with his boot, and passed me to walk inside the restaurant.
