Back story of Shai & Atka

Prologue : "The Awakening"

I see my mother's white fur and grey freckles in front of me. The grassy green eyes peering at me as my mother licked my cheeks. I squealed in excitement.

"Kiari, Kiari, Kiari.." I mumbled and I kept repeating it to myself. That's my mother's name, Kiari.

I shifted and forced myself to stand up but I stumble and fall into my mother's arm. I tried again and this time my mother helped me. I kept my balance and got the hang of it. I scrambled out of the den and I saw blue flowers around our den. I picked them up with my mouth and that's when it all began, my story is just the beginning.

The crisp, autumn wind ruffled the newborn wolf pup's fur as he lifted his delicate gray head for the first time and blinked open his eyes, one at a time. Letting out a small squeaky yawn, he flipped over onto his back and tilted his head to the sky, the beautiful dull blue color of the sky enrapturing the young canine. Tilting his head, he glanced behind him and yipped as a little black and yellow butterfly drifted towards him, lazily riding the breeze. Hopping up on unsteady legs, he lunged forward and tried to grab the insect mid-flight. Closing his mouth around the butterfly, he let out a loud sneeze and spit it out, watching as it fluttered away, less graceful this time. Atka unceremoniously flopped back down and shifted his gaze back up to the blue depths of the sky, watching peacefully as the world prepared to shift for the worse around him. The wolf pup hadn't realized it yet, but he was part of something greater - this was the start of a new era.
