He laid silently in bed, waiting for the morning to come. It was 3:25 am and
Tyler couldn't seem to fall back asleep.
That wasn't much of a suprise to him, though.
Ever since he was young, he had trouble with sleeping properly. When he was seven, it got so bad that his mother would give him sleeping pills to help him get some rest. Now that he was older, he had grown out of the pills and had to find other ways to fall asleep. None of them really worked so he wasn't much of a stranger to sleepless nights.
Hey there.
Tyler's eyes widened, searching the room for what he had heard.
Seeming to know what Tyler was doing the voice said,
I'm not in the room.
I'm in your head.
Chills ran down Tyler's spine. It was him.
After all those nights of staying awake, you still can't even fall asleep. You're like a child that's afraid of the dark. How pathetic.
Tyler, fully awake, pulled the corner of his bed sheet up to cover his head, hoping that the voice would just leave him alone.
You do know that that won't make me go away, right?
Tyler, already knowing that it wouldn't make a difference, decided to ignore the venomous voice.
Giving me the silent treatment, eh? Just because you're being quite doesn't mean I'll be the same, stupid.
He groaned, just wanting to finally go to sleep.
"Go away," Tyler said in a frightened, yet firm voice, a tear falling onto his pillowcase.
What? You expect me to just leave now? I haven't even gotten to my good insults and you've already broken down like a little baby.
Tyler, tired from the past few sleepless nights, doesn't have the energy to fight back to his venomous words.
"Leave me alone! Why won't you torture someone else! Won't you go to someone else's head?!" Tyler murmured back, sobbing now.
The voice didn't answer.
Tired from crying, Tyler wrapped himself up in his now wet with tears covers and closed his eyes.
He wished this horrible cycle of sleepless nights, infused with tears would just stop.
Most of all, he wished he would stop.
