Prologue

It had only been a few days of losing her. The time at my home was slowly driving me mad with the memories of what we had. What we used to be. I paced my corridors and hallways for hours trying to find the answers to questions that I knew I would never again get the answers to. My best friend was gone forever. The lover that I had once did everything for was no longer here for me to hold onto whenever I needed a comforting embrace. She had been my rock for many years and now like a falling star over the horizon my heart was shattered and just like that. In the blink of an eye she was gone. The ring I had given her before she went to college now sits sadly in its original casings without a hand to be its companion. The note that was underneath it was more of a confirmation that she was never to return again. I was hoping for some type of miracle but I knew that it was an impossible wish that could never be granted. I prayed for her to come back. I need her to come back. Unfortunately this was never happening. This was a pain that was going to haunt me forever. I will forever love her. I hope she knew that before she said goodbye.
