Take My Hand

                       " Take my hand,

                          Take my whole life, too,

For I can't help falling in love with you"

" Hey, Holtzmann, you mind turning your music down? It's a little distracting. " Yelled Abby.

" Come on. You can't go wrong with a little Elvis Presley. He is a LEGEND." Replied Holtzmann.

" I know he is a legend, as you say, but I'm trying to write our monthly report back to the mayor. I think this is more important than Elvis. "

There was a pause. Abby instantly knew Holtzmann was up to something. Abby turns and looks to the steps and sees that Holtzmann's lab lights have been turned off. "Holtzmann, this isn't the time to be playing games. When I said turn the music off, I only meant the music, not your whole lab." When Abby turns around, Holtzmann is standing right behind her, boombox in hand. Holtzmann taps the play button and Elvis's Can't Help Falling in Love   comes on. Holtzmann dances around the main level and Abby can't help but become more enraged.

" Haha very funny, Holtzmann. But really, please turn it off. " Commanded the now fed-up Abby.

" NEVER!" Shouted the dancing Holtzmann.

Abby soon realizes she will not win her argument against Holtzmann and her music, so she resumes back to work, trying her hardest to tune out Holtzmann and her freakishly loud boombox.

About an hour passes and Abby realizes that Holtzmann's music had stopped playing. When she shouts Holtzmann's name, no one replied back. Abby called out her name one more time and that's when she was nearly startled to death by Patty.

" Abby! Holtzy and Erin left 10 minutes ago. They went to go get coffee. Remember? They asked if you wanted anything but you just waved them off." Explained Patty.

" Really? I must have been so engrossed in that report that I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings. Do you know where they went to get the coffee? I want to catch up with them."

         " Just Starbucks. "

" Okay. Well I'm just gonna--" Abby was interrupted.

" No, don't go! Let's let these two have their own time together. " Interjected Patty.

" Why? It's not like they are dating. Are they?" Abby asked.

" I don't know girl! But can't you tell that these two definitely like each other. I mean, Erin always blushes around Holtzmann and never focuses on her work. Holtzmann always offers to take Erin, only Erin, on walks around the city and always dances with her. There is obviously something there. "

" I don't know. If these two liked each other, one of them would have confessed their crush to us by now." With that concluding statement, Abby headed out of the fire station.

Walking down the sidewalk, Abby could see Holtzmann and Erin ahead. Right before she called out their names, she noticed their hands. Holtzmann's was interlocked with Erin's. Abby quickly turned back and retreated to the Ghostbusters headquarters. Patty was right and now Abby knew she couldn't stay quiet about this event for long.

Abby, not being gone for more than 10 minutes, ran into the headquarters and shouted Patty's name. " Patty, you were right. Get down here!"

Patty came down the fire pole and was once again acquainted with Abby. " How do you know for sure?"

" I saw them walking down the street. They were holding hands. But now what? Do we bring it up or let them tell us? I don't know how to deal with these things Patty!"

" Girl, relax. We knew that they liked each other. It's just a relationship. It's fine."

Abby finds herself in the midst of anxiety and confusion. She had always known that Holtzmann was gay, but Abby felt a bit betrayed that Erin had never told her she was gay, or bi at the least. " Patty, I know it's just a relationship, but how come Erin never told me, you kno--"

" That she was gay? Why does she need to tell you? Maybe she isn't ready. Just let it go."

The now flustered Patty makes her way to the stairs and proceeds up the steps. As Patty reaches the top floor, Erin and Holtzmann return.

" Well, hello you two. You guys were gone for a while. Everything okay?" Questioned Abby.

" Yeah. Why'd you ask" Responded Holtzmann.

" Oh, nothing. Just... I saw you two holding hands and I was wondering if there was anything you two needed to tell me."

After Abby muttered those words, she immediately regretted it. Why would she ever say such a thing.

" Well. Abby, you see when two people are in love they tend to hold hands. " Said Holtzmann, followed by a loud and playful laugh. When Abby looked up she saw that Holtzmann and Erin were once again holding hands. Holtzmann was looking quite comfortable while Erin was blushing.

" So, you two are a thing now?"

     " Yep, right Erin?"

" Yeah, pretty much." Replied Erin to the short blonde.

" Okay. Well good for you two." Abby left the firehouse and headed towards the subway station. It was now 9:00 PM and she was beyond the point of tired, she was exhausted.  As Abby boards the metro train, she is reminded of the first time they ever "caught" a ghost with the other three women. She can't help but look back at the days when they were all just friends. No dating or love involved, just plain friends.

By the time Abby got off at her stop, it was 9:30 PM. She made her way through the busy streets of Manhattan and approached her apartment building. Greeted by the building attendant, Abby waved back and headed towards the elevators. She typically took the stairs, but she was to tired to attempt the 15 floor climb.

She pushed the up button and waited to hear the "ding" of the elevator and see the doors open. The "ding" came the doors opened to an empty elevator. She walked in and pressed the 15th floor button. The doors closed and up she went. She walked down the long, hard wood hallway and approached apartment 1521. She put her key in the door and walked into a dark apartment. She made her way to her bedroom. She changed and slid into bed. As she drifted off into sleep, she couldn't help but think about the old days of the Ghostbusters.

Abby did not know why she had so much trouble dealing with this new relationship between Holtzmann and Erin, but whatever it was, she was too tired to figure it out tonight.
