Slamming his fists onto the table, Bastien growled in frustration. The map splayed out before him was covered in angry red x's. All marking out the places the frustrated Alpha had searched to find his Soul.

He had searched everywhere packs were located around the world. No one had turned up. He was beginning to lose hope. At 22 years old, he should have already found his Soul, especially as an Alpha. In order for him to successfully run his pack, he needed his Soul, his other half nestled up beside him.

He was starting to curse the Goddess of the Moon for not giving him a Soul. Patience was a good value in an alpha, and his was running out.

After seeing no empty spaces on the map he ripped it off the pegs attaching it to his desk, throwing the tattered paper across the room in a flourish. Stabbing a map of the new sector he was to scour he didn't realize the pack-mate entering the room.

"Excuse me Sir?"

"Yes?" He paused in his angry stabbing torrent of emotions.

"An intruder has been sighted. She surrendered and is currently being held captive."

"Pack?" He questioned, not looking up from his planning.

"None. Sir." He looked up into the emotionless face of the member.

"A rogue?"

"No Alpha. Not a Werewolf. She's not Human either.

"I'll be right out." He said, placing the quill back in the ink pot and following the pack-mate out of the doors being held open by two guards.

Stepping out into the manicured front lawn he took upon the sight before him. An extremely pale girl kneeling on the grass, her elbows captured by two guards. Her white hair draped across her face, other than the parts intricately held back by braids. She wore a stark white Victorian style gown, except a more relaxed version, her pale complexion made the dress look ghostly. The stiff collar pressed up against the almost white skin of her neck, Bastien also noticed her small feet were bare, her toes curled up against the Earth.

She suddenly looked up at his approaching form with startling Citrine colored eyes.

"Hello, Bastien. I am Persephone."

Taken aback, Bastien growled. "How do you know of my name?"

"I cannot tell you. However, I can tell you, that I am your Soul."

"How do you know? Creature!" He spat, angered by her dry claims.

"It is another thing I cannot tell you. But you may come touch my hand and see for yourself." Cautiously approaching the women kneeling on the soft earth he reached out to her outstretched hand. As soon as his fingertips got a millimeter away from her bony fingers she strongly gripped his wrist, causing the guards immediately to react and wretch her back away from his still hovering hand, yet her face remained placid.

That split second had been enough for Bastien though, it had sent electric currents running up his arm. What the woman had said was true. His eyes widened in disbelief, had he finally found her, or rather, she found him?

"Let her go!" He roared. The guards reeled back, and her elegant neck craned up to look at him. She seemed to float up from the ground, grace described her movements perfectly. Her hair seemed to float as if stirred by a non existent breeze, her lacy dress hung heavily to the ground, and despite the heavy material, it too stirred in the air.

She looked up at him expectantly.

"Come with me." He demanded, still boggled by her sudden appearance. Persephone nodded and folded her hands in front of her as her small delicate feet carried her slightly off the ground, although she took steps as if she were walking. What he also noticed what strange was her form flickered slightly, as if she weren't really there. What a curious thing, he thought.

Opening the wooden door to the office he had left moments before. Gesturing to a leather seat in front of his desk, Persephone glided to the seat and folded her skirts beneath her as she sat composed in the chair.

Sitting in the chair opposite Bastien compared his heavy footsteps to her silent ones. He studied her features as she studied his. White hair split perfectly down the middle, a few strands were braided and hung behind her ear in a labyrinth of soft tangles. Orange-brown eyes flickered across his own black hair and black eyes. She had a small, lean figure, and only the skin of her hands, feet and neck were exposed. He wondered how she buttoned up her top, the lace provided a confusing pattern.

The Alpha was shook from his trance as his Soul cleared her throat.

"There are many of your questions I am not allowed to answer. I will tell you that I am not supposed to be here. I am in danger." Bastien growled and lunged across the desk, grabbing her and dragging her into his seat and onto his lap. His protectiveness sprung to life inside him, a foreign feeling to him.

"No one shall harm you!" He rasped, holding her tightly against his chest, and that strange flicker became more apparent. She sighed and sailed out of his arms.

"That is why I have come to you. I relied on the bond to bring me to you. I had to find someone I could trust, someone who could protect me. I knew you would not harm me, Bastien. But I am hungry and tired from my journey. May I eat?"

"Of course. I will get the slaves to prepare a meal." He watched as her brow furrowed as he mentioned the slaves, but he brushed it off and guided her to his private dining hall, where many people bustled around, placing silver platters and cutlery. As he entered the room the power that emanated off him forced the lower ranked members to kneel and chant 'welcome Alpha' before springing back and finishing their tasks.

Once again she traveled in her unique way into her seat, eyeing the plate in front of her.

"It is steak. Do you have it where you come from?"

"No." He opened his mouth to make a new demand, "but it will do perfectly!" She rushed before he could make more commands.

"Alright. Eat up. I will bring you to our room afterwards." Bastien looked forward to holding her in his arms, he craved her touch.

She ate quietly, and he watched her face light up as she chewed the first piece of meat. She ravenously ate her meal, and soon had a soft smile lighting up her beautiful face.

Leaning back she faced me, "I wish to go to sleep."

"I'll carry you upstairs." She did not protest as Bastien wrapped his arms around her small, very light frame. Walking up the stairs Bastien relished in the feel of sparks jumping on his skin. He had missed his Soul for 22 years and was not about to let her go.

Kicking open the door he gently laid Persephone across his bed. He pulled of his shirt and changed into pajama pants. Pulling himself and his Soul under the covers, she curled up against his side and he began to ponder all the questions running through his head. Soon sleep dragged his eyelids closed and the tired man decided to worry about it all tomorrow and enjoy the feeling of his Soul in his arms. Soon both figures were breathing heavily and savored the best sleep they had experienced in a long time.
