Divine Intervention by CriminalQueen

Cover Rating: 3.5/5

Story Rating: 4/5

Synopsis: Anger burned under Ceallach's skin, his eyes flaring dangerously with the emotion. He stood from his throne in a motion so abrupt that it caused the messenger to flinch. The room's other occupant, Sudhir, didn't react at all.

"How dare he?" Ceallach, god of War and Chaos, roared, voice echoing in the silence of the room.

"Fits like this, my king, are the reason you are in such a predicament; do attempt to calm yourself." The god of Strategy seemed almost bored with the other god's performance.

"Calm myself? Agni is going to attempt to take my kingdom, and you want me to calm myself?"

Since the beginning of time, Ceallach has ruled as King of the Gods of Eznea. Many millennia have passed from the time the war and chaos god took the throne, and now, there is a revolution on the horizon.

Agni, the god of Fire, has announced himself as Contender to the Throne, and many other deities are supporting him.

Katarina, the goddess of Death, has just risen from her periodic visit to the Land of the Dead and is unsure to whom she should ally herself.

Each opponent is eager to have her join him, for the goddes of Death is the most powerful ally of all.

A tales of war, betrayal, alliances, and the never-ending quest for power, Divine Intervention will drag you into a battle for power. Pick a side, and choose wisely, for the gods of Eznea always play for keeps.

Review: Well, for a girl that doesn't read this kind of stories, I actually liked it. Imagine what it would do to those who actually are into that kind of books. I congratulate you, CriminalQueen, for having great grammar and encouraging others to tell you if you have a mistake on your writing, it is very brave. I believe people usually do not remark that about other people, but if they do, I agree with them.

The story's plot is pretty captivating from the start, or simply from the description, which is something I really love, by the way. For example, "A tales of war, betrayal, alliances, and the never-ending quest for power, Divine Intervention will drag you into a battle for power. Pick a side, and choose wisely, for the gods of Eznea always play for keeps." That part got me, it is beautifully written. It's very accurate on what the story is about, without being too explicit or telling the whole story.

Talking about the grammar for a bit, I, as I said, really like it. Yet, there were some words that bothered me and if you've noticed from the way I fixed your description, those words have to do with God. I know this is a story about gods and goddessess, but I still believe that the only capital "G" that should be used, would be if you are actually mentioning the God of gods. Yes, I am Christian, but not only because of that I say that the capital "G" should not be used on titles of gods that don't really exist. It is just my opinion, it bothers me, but I am just one of many others that may think differently.

I like the cover, yet it's a bit dark, talking about the color, because I know the story has a bit of a dark side. I do like it, though, but not enough to give it a complete rating. Overall, the story captures you with its mesmerizing plot, its really twisted dilemma, and by the way, I pick Ceallach, but then again, I don't know sh*t.

Quotes: Well, I consider these quotes, I do not know about you, but anyway:

"'Calm myself? Agni is going to attempt to take my kingdom, and you want me to calm myself?'"

"Suddhir arched an eyebrow and said, 'When have you ever accomplished anything of worth when angry?'"

"Lady Death, it is a pleasure to have you amongst the living again, despite the irony of such statement."
