By the time I managed to leave the room, I was sated and sore. Daniel hadn't been able to get my talent out of me, for which I was thankful. Nor did he bite me a third time. I needed time to think about finding my mate, which I had said I would never do. When I entered my room Beta Patrick, Malory, and two female wolves sat on the bed, watching a movie. They looked up when I entered and the wolves sniffed the air. They all grinned as one and I glowered at them. "Out," I ordered and they all shook their heads. "You have no authority over us until the third bite," Beta Patrick explained. I narrowed my eyes. "I'm not getting the third bite, nor am I having a mate. Now out," I practically snarled the words, and I knew by the way the female wolves' eyes widened that my canine teeth were showing. Beta Patrick stood, placing himself in front of the females. "You and Daniel are going to become mates. All the signs are there that he is your One." I growled, crossing my arms. "I don't see the signs." Beta Patrick snorted. "You can disobey his direct order. You just had sex with him. You have two bites already and part of his essence is in your energy. Girl, you're all his."

I felt myself pale. "Did you just say his essence is in my energy. Already? That's not supposed to happen yet!" I yelled. Beta Patrick shrugged. "I agree it's unusual, but no one has mated with a Coyote before," he said. "My parents mated with each other, damn it! They never had their essence on each other!" I fumed, beginning to pace in panic. Beta Patrick had paled too. "Never?" he whispered. I nodded. "Never. Then again, they weren't True Mates. Coyotes aren't supposed to have True Mates. It's against our physical structure," I explained. "Have Coyotes ever mated out of their kind?" one of the females asked. I shook my head. "Only to each other or sometimes humans, though that's rarer." The three wolves shared a glance and I frowned. "What?" I demanded. "Is it possible to mate out of your own kind?" he asked. I snorted. "Depends on the breed. Genetic structures cause a big problem, but it is possible," I answered. "I have a question." It was the female again. I raised an eyebrow. "Yes?" She looked down for a moment. "Your children. What is the difference between them and other breeds?" she asked. I stilled, shock filling me.

"Yes, I had that same question."

Daniel strode inside the room, joining the wolves. I glanced at Malory, who appeared to be asleep. I clenched my teeth. "Nothing," I lied. Daniel snorted. "You're lying," he said. I growled. "How bad can it be for us to know?" the other female asked.  I shook my head. "Too dangerous for you to know," I insisted, inching towards the door. Beta Patrick stepped in front of it, sensing my movements. "Tell us and we will allow you to leave," Daniel said. I swallowed. "But you won't,"  I whispered. Daniel walked to me, touching my cheek gently. "Tell us. Please," he whispered. I squeezed my eyes shut and nodded. "Okay. I'll tell you." Daniel radiated satisfaction. With a sigh, I told them my biggest secret. "As you know, Breeds' give birth to children who cannot shift until they reach puberty. That's the difference between Coyotes and Wolves. Coyote females can give birth to children who can shift when they are first born."

Silence.

I opened my eyes to see Daniel's look of complete disbelief. "That can't be true!" he argued. I swallowed. "But it is. Our genetic structure allows us to manipulate our body to do so. In fact, that's the only way for a Coyote new born to survive. They have to make the shift the minute they're born or they die," I whispered. "So you're saying that if a Coyote and a Wolf were to mate and have a child, that child would be able to shift to Coyote right away?" Patrick asked. "If the father was Wolf, the child could shift to Wolf Right away. The child always takes after the paternal side." More silence and I closed my eyes. "You aren't leaving," Daniel finally said. I opened my eyes and growled. "I am leaving. You can't stop me." Daniel crossed his arms. "Patrick, girls. Take Malory and leave this room." They obeyed, shutting the door behind them. Daniel strode over to me, eyes inexpressibly. "You are mine," he growled, yanking my pants down past my hips. He did the same with his and then lifted me up, pinning me against the wall. I kicked my pants the rest of the way off, wrapping my legs around him. My mind said no, this was not right, but my body disagreed. It wanted Daniel more than ever. With a grunt, he thrust himself inside me. I didn't stop the moan that left my mouth, and he reacted  by thrusting repeatedly into me. I dug my nails into his back, arching into him.

"You are my Coyote. My mate. You will not leave." He thrust harder, deeper into me and I moaned. We claimed our release at the same moment. I noticed he hadn't bitten me and swallowed as I rested my head on his shoulder. He stayed still, buried inside me, with me pinned against the wall. "Daniel.....can I please get down?" I asked tentatively. Daniel grunted, but pulled out of me and allowed me to slip to the ground. I stared at him as I yanked my pants back on. When I decided to speak, he left without a word, his pants in place. Five minutes later Malory arrived. I looked at her grimly.

"Malory, get packed. We're leaving."

THE MAN TO THE RIGHT IS PATRICK.
