"Hey Mac, meeting in 119, just a couple of us, care to join? Got some incredible news," I glanced up and smiled at Josie, my positions leader.
"Sure, be there in a second," I told her, fumbling through my appointment book. "Coffee?"
"Duh," Josie chuckled, ducking her head back around my office door.
I stood up and fixed the collar of my blazer. Being a hair stylist and make up artist is one of the most rewarding job positions, I firmly believe. There is absolutely nothing like making someone feel confident and beautiful.
I rounded the corner and located 119 before walking in and straight over to the glorious coffee pot.
"Ah, there she is, the stylist of the hour," I heard, Corey, Josie's assistant and beauty school drop out say. I turned around, prepared to see Livvy, my best friend, and the most talented beautician I know. His eyes landed on mine, with a pointed look. I pointed to myself.
"Me?" I asked, stirring the sugar and cream into my coffee, clearly confused, "This news is regarding me?" I glanced over at Josie.
"Aw, my humble little Mac, always the sweet one," she giggled, I grinned still oblivious to what on earth was happening. "I got a call about three weeks ago, was told to keep it on the downlow, I sent in a couple of our top stylists portfolio's, one of them being yours, and you were chosen, get this..." she paused. I stood there, eyes wide, deer in a head lights gaze locked with Josie's waiting for her to finish.
"Louise Teasdale, don't know if that rings a bell for you, probably not, one of England's biggest hair and make up stylists has requested YOU as her co-lead hair and make up person for One Direction's upcoming events, now, granted, it is a trial run, and if you do well, you will be asked to sign a contract for their Where We Are tour that is so far announced to travel throughout the UK and the US," my mouth had fell open the minute she uttered the words One Direction. Absolutely gobsmacked was the correct term. "So, you up for 1D Day, AMA's, and GMA?"
"Are you kidding?" I scoffed. "Absolutely, what an honor."
"I thought so, another of my catterpillars has become a butterfly, now fly away my sweet Mac," she smiled, rubbing my back. "Corey is going to give you all the information you need, but the first event is Saturday, 1D Day," she smiled, before grabbing her coffee and exiting the room.
I turned to Corey, "I feel like I'm in a dream," I chuckled, he smirked.
"No, it's real life, McCarron Laurel is going to be a hair stylist and make up artist for One Direction," he grinned. "Anyway, I'll send you the address for 1D Day studios, this afternoon, keep an eye on your e-mail, I'll be firing a few your way in the next couple of days." He stood and kissed my head, "I'm proud of you Mac."
I couldn't believe that this was happening to me. A small town girl from Alabama, dreams too big for that one horse town, am finally going to do what I love for the whole world to see.

I flipped through People's Sexiest Man Alive issue, waiting for my phone to vibrate with the e-mail from Corey for my work information. My phone lit up and I glanced down at it.
Livvy Lowe - Congratulations, babe, I am so proud of you! Hope to see you before you jet off to NYC for GMA!
Me - Thank you!!! I can't believe it. It feels so unreal. Hope to see you too, I'll text you and let you know what's going on! :)
My phone vibrated and I smiled pulling my mail app open, finally.
Subject: 1D DAY, AMA's! Go Mac, Go!
1D Day will be held at Studio 4 on lot 9. Right next door to X-Factor, you remember where that is? If not, I'll shoot you another e-mail with the actual address.
AMA's, no need for the address, you'll be staying with the boys style team on their floor of the boys hotel. Lou Teasdale, your co-hair/make up stylist will help you out.
Everything's worked out, just wear your traditional street clothes, babe!
Good luck from Josie and I, text if you need us.

I decided a cup of tea, and an early bed call would be best. I tend to get anxious when exciting things are going on. The earlier I'm in bed, the earlier I'll finish thinking about everything and actually fall asleep.
